Daughter to ConTam and Talon, Kalestryx saw things that no hatchling should see from a young age, bouts of her father's rage and insanity, and her mother following his lead, as well as the rest of her family either bowing in fear or reveling in the power her father brought them. Escaping to her older cousin's clan, it took Kalestryx a long to to be able to come to terms with herself to take the trials, wanting to be able to help her new clan by being a healer.
Those dreams shattered when she failed the last Trial, becoming a servus and being sent back to her clan to serve her cousin Akaronys and her mate, Ripper. This was the way for several months, although soon her role was less a servant and more of an adviser.
The whole dynamic changed when she found a dying ghoul in the woods. Rushing back to their home, she dragged Akaronys out to the forest, healing the ghoul enough to bring him back from the brink of death, but not enough to neutralize him. They brought him home, Kalestryx devoting herself to nursing him to a healthy state, or at least as healthy as he could be. And over time, she fell in love with him, the small fae's heart big enough to shower him in all the affection he needed.
The ghoul and servus soon changed the whole perception of necromancers in the clan, paving the way for others of their order to join, including Kalestryx's younger imperial sister Aleksandr, snatched by the fae when her parents visited their clan to seek help in their nesting problems. The ghoul and fae became two of the most treasured members of the clan...
Until her family's madness caught up to her.
As gentle as a mother caring for her hatchlings, sanity slowly left the fae, often making her sputter nonsense not even the Plaguebringer understood. Fane stood by her always, guarding and protecting her as Akaronys and Kale's younger sister Aleksandr fought to find a way to reverse her madness.
So far... no improvement has been made.
