Personality

Loyal, as all drones are, but with a little more free thinking than usual. Will occasionally ask questions about things that pique its curiosity to Blacklight.
As stated above, somewhat curious about the world around it. It is the only one of its kind in the Pit, and Blacklight doesn’t ask much of it, so it has a lot of free time to think.
Surprisingly skittish, always on high alert. Will follow Blacklight around until it gets told off for being annoying because it is scared to go anywhere without direction from its new hivemind leader.
Logical and efficient in everything it does, but surprisingly childish.

At first, there was nothing but the Hive. It awoke surrounded by those like it, but not knowing anything, not knowing commands, the voice of a consciousness. It followed, but with no connection to anchor it, it would frequently find itself standing idle for days. It is empty. There is nothing but silence. Empty.

Empty empty empty.

It followed its siblings for many months, into a land of rot and decay. A pit in the ground, smelling of dragons. A new hive. New potential siblings to ASSIMILATE.

What does that mean.

They misjudged. Siblings lie around it, unmoving. This is no matter. There are others to replace them.

Others to replace this one.

The thought was displeasing.

A sibling-not-sibling approached, its hide chitinous. This one had killed many. Had torn them asunder with inky tendrils and giant claws. It could not move when the black figure pressed tiny tendrils into its skull, and erased its original coding with a virus unlike any it had ever seen.

It woke up.

It was underground, in a new hive.

You’re awake. Good.

A true CONSCIOUSNESS? It knew of its existence, but its home had long since abandoned it. This was home now. It had new orders to take.

It felt... pleased.

The emptiness was filled.

Get up, my renegade drone. We have work to do.

About
This drone never had a connection to the hive it was born into, but managed to stay by following in the lead of its siblings. Out on a search to assimilate, it and its siblings invaded the Pit, which proved to be more formidable than they had planned for. Most of its siblings were destroyed by Blacklight alone, with only it remaining. Blacklight, taking interest in the strange drone, spared it. Being a virus, Blacklight instead assimilated it into his hivemind, making him and it the only members. He can exact every will he has on it, but mostly leaves it to its own devices. He finds it fascinating as the drone tries to figure out independence as a concept. It has always had it, but never had the opportunity to explore it in the hive. After devouring its siblings, Blacklight knew precisely how the species functioned.

So, to start, he gave it a name befitting its situation; Renegade. He gave it the hivemind it had always craved, a leader to follow, but otherwise, leaves it alone. On occasion he will see it fit to send on errands and tasks for him- but that’s not the reason he acquired Renegade as a part of his hivemind.

In a way, it’s almost a small experiment for him.

Trivia

Often is sent out to gather new DNA samples for Blacklight to use. Will occasionally do this without prompt. It is very eager to please.
Its white carapace has been tainted by the Blacklight virus, black veins coursing beneath the shell with strikes of blue and purple- far different from the red and orange of Blacklight.
It is slowly beginning to see the Pit as its hive, granted separate from the hivemind, they still live in what appears to be a hive what with tunnels and chambers. It has hesitantly made attempts to interact with others.
