The OBSERVER Spymaster of the Workshop Status: ?̶̨͕̝͓̜̦͙̗͖̖̀̿?̶̘͈͍̠̹̈́͝?̵̨̭͔̬̮͈̓͐ Silent | Efficient | Patient | Loyal | Unsettling No secret can remain hidden in the dark forever. Over the years, Grimoire and her acolytes have grown exponentially in power and influence. Grimoire’s name is spoken in fearful whispers all across Sornieth. Many have heard of her dark powers and twisted experiments. A brave few have even decided to take up arms against her. Grimoire needed a way to monitor her enemies - both inside and outside of the Workshop. No ordinary dragon could fill such a vital role. Grimoire needed someone that she could trust implicitly. One night, while she was searching through her vast personal library, she found a spell to summon a rare magical being - an “Observer.” Observers could meld with the shadows, see through walls, induce fear or sleep, and use magic to charm dragons and animals alike. In other words, it would be the perfect spy. The summoning spell required an offering of flesh and blood. Grimoire was no stranger to such sacrifices. She drew a summoning circle there on her library floor and did not hesitate to cut off one of her own claws as tribute to the demon. Grimoire’s severed claw bubbled at the center of the summoning circle. It twisted and writhed, growing grotesquely in size and form. In moments, the claw had grown into a near identical copy of Grimoire herself. It was like looking into a dark mirror. The only difference between them was the multiple, hideous eyes covering the Observer’s skinless body. The Observer, grateful to have been given physical form, knelt before Grimoire and pledged itself eternally to her service. The Observer remains Grimoire’s obedient servant to this day. It keeps tabs on potential threats both in and out of the Workshop. The Observer has comprehensive knowledge on everything and everyone in the Workshop. It knows of Scapula’s secret ambition to overthrow Grimoire. It knows of Sallow’s desperate bids for rebellion. It knows even of Moloch and the Emperor’s terrifying, ever-growing power. It faithfully reports all that it knows to Grimoire. The other denizens of the Workshop find the Observer eerie and off-putting. It does not speak much. But its presence reminds them that their master is always watching, always listening. |
