Biography
His first memory was of his parents. He had been nestled in the roots of two giant trees. Their branches were intertwined and their trunks twisted together near the top. He could feel their love for him with complete certainty.
His parents didn't talk much, but it was understandable seeing as they didn't have mouths. They still ate though, taking nutrients from the ground, so he was sure to bring them lots of food. He was a devoted and loving son after all. He would bury prey near their roots for them to feast on every once in a while.
The other dragons in the clan didn't believe him that his parents were trees. They pointed to his hide then to some female dragon who adorned herself in tears and metal. They claimed she was his true mother, citing the colour of his body.
"But what of this yellow streak?" He'd ask, referring to his underbelly. For that, they pointed to her mate, a yellow imperial. It was simply absurd! He was coloured like the leaves of his parents, and his skin was tough as their bark.
The dragons who were supposedly his parents never had anything to say. They looked sad, and he understood. He'd be sad too if people were insisting a hatchling was his when it wasn't!
Over time, he felt that the others didn't really enjoy his company. They were all hidden smirks and eye rolls whenever he was around. For many days he visited his parents who stood proudly in his birthplace. He talked to them about his troubles, even though he knew they wouldn't answer. For hours at a time he would rant and ramble, then listen to the rustle of their leaves and creak of their limbs.
It was them who helped him decide to finally leave. It would be hard to be far from them, but he was tired of this clan. They didn't get him, and they kept harassing that poor couple about him. Yes, it was for the best for him to go out into the world, even if it meant leaving his parents behind.
