The Collectors had always wished to help others.
Be it with simple trade, or offering others a nest for the night, or even giving them a home should they need it. On occasion, they were even known to send scouting or warrior parties to help smaller clans who needed a few extra teeth to defend themselves from thieves or the Forest itself. But they soon realized, that very few actually knew of them, due to how difficult it was to spread word through the trees that tried oh, so hard to isolate the forest’s denizens. Scouting parties could only do so much. War parties were frightening. Word of mouth made them sound more like a faerie tale. “What if we had an…a clan ambassador?” suggested Dumah from their perch near the nursery. “We’ve considered it,” replied one of the clan leaders—Valor. Her dark eyes kept scanning those gathered before her and Darklight, who had kept mostly quiet for this meeting. Valor had always been a bit better with words. “But it would be a risky job. They would be away from the clan more often than not, and we can’t guarantee we could afford a warrior to be with them at all times.” Suni blinked, and glanced to the serthis at his side. She blinked back—they seemed to have the same idea. “And…if that ambassador was accompanied by a familiar instead?” “Very few of the clan have—” Valor trailed off as her eyes landed on the Imperial. Her face lit up with realization. And Suni nodded. “I volunteer. I can not only defend myself, but I’d have Enya at my side.” The leaders turned to each other and whispered softly; Suni couldn’t help but twitch his ears forward to listen, even as Enya elbowed him in the shoulder. Then, Darklight stood; Valor wasn’t long to follow. “Very well.” Darklight’s too many voices echoed around one another, carrying through the main room of the cave where many of the older clanmates were gathered to listen and chip in ideas. “Suni and Enya are to become our ambassadors. It will be your jobs to make peace with loners and outside clans, let them know we are more than just a hatchling’s tale of hope.” “And still be careful about thieves or anyone—or thing—else that might harm the clan with that information. We know.” Enya clasped her hands together, beaming up at Suni. “New adventure.” “New adventure,” he agreed. ┗━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━┛ ┏━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━┓

As with his younger sibling, Axius, Suni’s hatching corresponded with a spike in the forest’s energy near the Caves. This resulted in him being what’s called “spirit-touched.” In his case, this trait manifested itself in the following ways:
*Many eyes scatter his body, and all are functional. *Forms an unnatural magic bond with non-draconian creatures that allows him to sense when they’re near. Has an especially easy time communicating with and sensing serthis without seeming threatening, and was able to learn their language with ease. *Calming presence. Even when others feel threatened, they have a hard time seeing Suni himself as a threat, making it much easier for him to reason with them than someone else would be able to. ┗━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━┛ ┏━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━┓

Suni discovered Enya when she was injured by a forest manifestation—the rotted spirit had attempted to hunt her but she’d escaped, though not without injury.
When Suni brought her to the clan to be tended to, he remained nearby since he was the only one (at the time) who could communicate with her. They developed a close magical bond, making Enya what they’ve always called a “familiar”—something very few within the clan have. They’re practically inseparable and extremely protective of each other, having a bond not dissimilar to twins who’d hatched from the same egg. ┗━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━┛ |
