B I O G R A P H Y ____________________________ From the very day he hatched the mages of the Starfall Isles had seen a blessing of promise and potential in the pearlcatcher's strange anomaly, but Shardwrought saw it only as a curse. The Arcane Ambassador was among the youngest of the ambassadors; some of his peers would say it was quite fitting considering the Arcanist was the youngest deity. Shardwrought had been born to a nest that rested near the very top of The Focal Point, and as a result he had been born with strange, pulsating crystal growths all along his head, neck, shoulders, and tail. He could barely stand as a hatchling due to the weight of the crystals, not aided by the fact they displayed strange, erratic behavior that often hindered Shardwrought. But Shardwrought's true hatred for his strange shardhide would not come until the day he loses his pearl to its unpredictable reactions. A sudden turn of events had caused the young pearlcatcher to be jerked out of the air as he was flying to visit some Crystalspine Researchers who wished to study his crystals. Said crystals had been abruptly attracted to a nearby cluster of mined crystals, and Shardwrought had lost his grip on his pearl, causing it to tumble down into the deep ocean below. Search attempts for his pearl proved futile, and Shardwrought was cursed to be a pearl-less pearlcatcher, shunned and disgraced. Shardwrought left behind his old home as quick as he could, resigning to train as an Ambassador so he could avoid the constant poking and examining of curious researchers. As a replacement for his pearl, Shardwrought instead carries with him an arcane runestone, treasuring it like it was his pearl. Most of his peers in the Lucidlight Clan are kind and understanding with him, but Shardwrought is usually avoided by his fellow pearlcatchers. Relations with the Arcane Flight are splendid thanks to the close allyship the clan has with a clan that was previously in the flight. Both clans got along very well, and relations with the flight were still maintained even after the clan switched flights. ________________________________________

Shardwrought was the first to fall.

When the time was right, Renzati drew him away from the clan grounds, to where no one would witness what she was about to do. She tricked the pearlcatcher into partaking in a ritual that would bind him to the Shade, and turn his body into an abomination. She disguised it as a spell that could rid him of his shard hide, a tantalizing offer that Shardwrought almost instantly agreed to.

When the ritual circle was formed, the runes drawn and Renzati's chants finally ceased, Shardwrought felt himself grow lighter. He watched in amazement as the crystal burden he'd been carrying for so long fell away. He was free from it.

Then he felt himself grow lighter still. Panic quickly set in as Shardwrought looked down at his own talons and saw them dematerializing into whorls of wind and Shade magic. Renzati merely sat back and watched as Shardwrought roared frantically, clawing at his body everywhere it was dematerializing, a feeble attempt to save himself.

When the last of the pearlcatcher's tangible body had turned to the gale given dragon form, Renzati placed the final touch: an onyx ghastcrown gifted to her by the Shade. With that, Shardwrought's conversion was complete, and he was ready to serve the Shade.
