Biography

Aravis

Aravis isn’t used to speaking much, and she’s quite unused to the comforts of modern draconic
life. She was kidnapped by a Harpy-Longneck coalition when she was a hatchling, likely when her parents weren’t looking. She never really knew them, so there’s no way to tell for sure. The Harpies and Longnecks both have a use for tough things- harpies make masks for their warriors, and longnecks make tools out of stone, and so they figured that it’d be useful to keep a fae dragon prisoner, and force her to cure sap into amber for them.

Aravis, being very small and not very good at curing sap like grown ups do, was not as useful
as they’d hoped. So the alchemists and mages among them did… something. Some rare strain of gembond, perhaps? However they managed it, they turned her scales to solid crystal, and harvested them from her for whatever they liked. So many were picked off from her wings that to this day, they haven’t grown back right. Eventually, she got the hang of amber making, and that was all she did. Day in, day out, simply making gold from goo without a single other soul in the world.

To this day, she has trouble connecting with other dragons. Naturally, she learnt Common
Draconic later than most dragons, but she also happens to be very unemotive, specifically for a fae. The harpies didn’t appreciate when her frills flared, so she learnt to keep them still. Additionally, the crystallization of her hide made it difficult for her to move, so a lapis pendant was enchanted so that it’s not as tough. She’s still very cautious, and doesn’t like it at all when drakes touch her wings or frills. She also hates being in or around cured sap, and doesn’t harden it herself at all. All in all, it makes her quite a reserved dragon.
