She woke to cold. Everything was cold. The ground below her, the air around her, herself - where was she? She pushed herself up on clumsy legs, entire body trembling with the chill, barely able to feel the tips of her fingers, the tips of her toes. She had not gone to bed in such a cold place. Where... Where was she?

She lifted her hands to her face, intent on rubbing them, only to be greeted with sharp claws and smooth, brown scaled... Paws? She let out a small, high pitched trill of alarm at the sight, tumbling backwards and landing on her back - but not her back? Pain seared through her and she cried out, pushing herself over onto her stomach. Right, right - she had wings. She had always had those. These were... Different. Not her wings. Leathery.

What had... What was she? Where was she?

She remembered nothing but bits and pieces of... Something. Someone? Hair like fire. Kind eyes, strong arms. Flying - Lies. Someone had lied to her. Who had lied to her?

Fire. Screams. Someone... She was forgetting someone. Someone important. Who? Who was it?

Laughter. A smiling face. Love? She had loved someone.

She pressed her face into the cold, snowy ground below herself, tears sliding unnoticed from her eyes.

She just didn't understand.

What had happened to her?

The Southern Icefield was unforgiving. She knew nothing but cold for far longer then she could of ever known - but there was also warmth. The warmth of a small clan of gentle, kind dragons that did not judge her for her oddities. They were all strange themselves - certainly not quite as odd as she, as she clearly remembered a time where she had not been a dragon. She clearly remembered awakening, fully grown, in the cold with only fragments of memories to her name. She was not of this wonderful, beautiful, frightening world. She knew it.

All good things must end.

She is chased away by fire. Fire that reminded her so much of that painfully orange hair - of the one that had lied, that had twisted her, that had corrupted her. That had played her like a fiddle for his own amusement. She had never hated anyone. She had never thought that one could not be saved.

Until him.

She remembered not his face. His voice. Anything - nothing but those sugared lies and fiery hair that made guilt and shame lance painfully down her spine. She had done something she had promised to never do. She had betrayed the one that had given her the world, that had given her everything - love, a family, a companion, everything.

And she had left him to his fate, moonstruck by a snake in the wool of a lamb. Had listened to his agonized cries as he was torn apart, listened as he called for her, begged and pleaded with her to save him. He had not deserved what had happened to him. He had not.

She had left him to it.

It haunted her.

She ends up in a forest so thick it's nearly frightening.

She doesn't stay long. Their trickery, their lies - it all reminds her too much of the fire-haired snake and she flees once more into a wasteland.

It is here where she meets her. The dragon with the cruel red eyes.

She is like her. Scarily so.

She is not allowed to leave.
