Lore WIP: An extravagantly dressed Pearlcatcher, he is thought to be worth as much as the valuables as he wears - particularly because he has the strange ability to detect precious metals and gems. He also specializes in appraising these items, though he couldn't exactly tell you the method how - he simply has a "feeling" about it. He describes it being similar to seeing a good piece of fruit - you see it and you just... know! He finds comfort in his good finds, most of which he keeps on himself. Unfortunately, thanks to this ability, Midas has spent much of his life being passed around as strange curiosity. He had always been targeted in some way - whether it be by bandits, scholars or particularly wealthy dragons, all of them were interested in his strange power and hoped to use it to satisfy their own goals. This has made him a timid, untrusting sort - especially since he'd never have any say in anything. For a short time in his life, he thought he was freed. Taken from a noble and brought into the Solar Sanctum, he was given the name Midas. Up until that point, he hadn't even had a name... or at least not one he remembered. No one had ever bothered to ask; for so long he was viewed more as a tool than a dragon. Grateful to have someone finally recognize him as his own being, he eagerly cooperated with whatever the facility asked of him. (More notes: willingly cooperates with their testing on him; eventually he realizes they're only interested in him for science but he resigns himself to staying there because he's still better treated there and safer there from other folk. It gets bad when they continue to test in spite of his fatigue and Midas slowly realizes oh no Somehow manages to escape; maybe manages to temporarily awaken a new power out of desperation that lets him escape and he flees into the Viridian Labyrinth Not sure who finds him or how he gets to Amity Garden but he eventually ends up there. Obviously very wary and not so quick to trust but he does eventually realize they're the real deal and learns to truly accept Amity Garden as his home.) His last "owner" was in fact a noble who had dragged him along to Primrose Manor to show him off. It was there that Midas managed to escape into the forest, where he has since found sanctity in Amity Garden. Though safe, he understandably has a difficult time trying shake his paranoia... |
