Biography
"Curiosity killed the cat, but satisfaction brought it back."
Mercury was once part of a roaming bandit party that terrorized the noble countryside. Having spent years perfecting their 'hit and run' tactics, they grew a little too big for their britches and learned the hard way what happens when you stir up the hornets nest...
While his party was busy harassing the guards and ghouls in the streets, Mercury made for the tower in the center of town, hoping to snag some loot while chaos reigned down below. What he stumbled across however, as he pulled himself astride one of the few windows along the towers surface, was nothing short of terror incarnate.
What exactly happened after that... Mercury himself isn't sure. There was a pause, maybe a beat or two of silence, and then the sound of rushing wind as he was thrust from the tower. Mercury likes to think he was pushed. In all likelihood though, he probably offed himself to try and escape the cold stare directed his way from that thing....
Guess, in the end, it didn't really matter though, did it? From one breath to the next Mercury found himself staring back up into Arrix's cold gaze, amusement dancing behind the decrepit gaze.
"For a ranger who walks with the big cats, I had hoped your similarities would extend beyond just your climbing abilities. I suppose I was wrong, eh?"--Arrix The Lich.
Raised from the dead to serve under Arrix, Mercury now spends most of his days ferrying messages across the land he once pillaged. A small price to pay, in his opinion, for immortality.
"Being dead ain't so bad. You never have to worry about eating or drinking again. If only I could get rid of the nightmares."
