Sigur
Clan Co-Leader
Sigur had left his birthclan as he had wanted a taste of the rest of the world. He had heard from traveling Ridgebacks of mixed breed clans and glowing forests. However, just before crossing the border into the Sea of a Thousand Currents, Sigur had a thought-- How would he be able to survive on his own in other regions of the world if he could not even survive on his own in the Shifting Expanse. He happily dug himself a small lair in the highland scrub.

Sigur, being a Ridgeback, had a stomach only for seafood but a terribly strong aversion to water. For a while Sigur tried his best to fish for himself. But being even five feet from the water made his spines shudder with fear. To survive-- he did as one does in the Expanse-- Sigur began to borrow. He did his best to replace what he took with something of equal value. If he took a trap full of fish from an unsuspecting clan, he would leave behind a trap filled with thunder scarabs, football mums, static charged lemmings, or whatever foods he could catch to replace the seafood he borrowed to survive.

For two sheds, Sigur lived on his own in his lair. It was just another day of tunneling in and out of a clan's lair to borrow a trap of seafood to feed himself for the week. Sigur tunneled as quickly as he could to avoid the awkward conversations in which he typically returned the trap so his tunneling often overshot the Highland Scrub. Today was no different as he crawled out into the Carrion Canyon.

"What are you doing?" an unfamiliar voice inquired.

Shocked and a little embarrassed, Sigur quickly looked around. A large black Guardian stood not more than three feet away from him. "I swear I was just borrowing it." He blurted out, setting the trap in front of him. "You can have it back if--"

The Guardian shook her head, cutting in. "Oh, it not mine. I was just curious...."

Sigur shuffled his paws in the dirt awkwardly as he tried to think of what to say. "Would... you like to share some?"

"That would be kind, thank you."

He and the Guardian, called Vrancea, talked as they walked up to his lair in the Highlands and he explained that he ended up in the canyon because he was just very bad at directions and learned Vrancea had been traveling to find something that had been calling to her. She thought maybe it was in the Shifting Expanse so Sigur, now eager to have someone to socialize with after being alone for so long, offered her a place to stay while she was in the expanse as long as she could get food, especially fish, for them both. She agreed and so they began their symbiotic relationship. With many late night talks and casual stories through the days, they quickly grew close. By the end of the first year, they were inseparable and Vrancea told Sigur she thought she had found her charge. His wings drooped in disappointment, though he tried to hide it. "So I guess that means you'll be leaving to care for your charge. It has been calling to you for years now, right?" Vrancea smiled at him, "Do not look so disappointed, you big goof. I would have left a long time ago if my charge had been somewhere else. It is you, of course."

Vrancea and Sigur continued to live together in the Highland Scub, Sigur would gather plants and insects while Vrancea went to Fishspine Reef for seafood. One day Vrancea brought home two very young Guardians who were apparently trying to out swim a Deeprealm Hunter. Sigur was, as always, thrilled to have company. Especially since it meant he got to tunnel new dens. The brothers, Bratus and Talaz, stayed with the older dragons for months and by the time frost was beginning to appear, the group had seen each other through highs and lows and functioned smoothly as a team.

However spring came and the brothers told the older dragons they felt they needed to go find their charges. Vrancea and Sigur exchanged a look before Vrancea voiced their thoughts. "We would like to come with you, if you don't mind." Sigur chimed in, "We consider you part of our family." The brothers happily agreed to the dragons they considered parents staying with them as they tried to find what it was they were meant to be protecting.

The next day they set off. They traveled through the Sunbeam Ruins, the Tangeled Wood, and the Viridian Labyrinth before coming to Dragonhome. Talaz spoke suddenly, "I think this is it." Looking towards the crumbled World Pillar. Talaz stopped in the crater surrounding the pillar and nodded. "This is the area I will protect." Vrancea, suggested a lair near the top of the crater which Sigur happily bagan to make. He had carved out four dens, one for each brother, one to share with Vrancea, and one large one to meet and eat in together, done by nightfall.

A year later, the small group had finally adapted to the new way of life and hunting required in Dragonhome. Sigur and Vrancea had hatched their first nest and seen the young dragons off as the hatchlings felt ready. Talaz guarded the lair and the crater with pride. Bratus had not yet found his charge, but felt this is where he was meant to meet them, so he stayed. It was a hot summer day, Bratus and Vrancea had gone out to hunt and gather while Sigur tunneled a nesting den, as they had not been fully prepared for their first nest, and Talaz watched over the crater.

Sigur often became hyper-focused as he tunneled so it was no surprise that when when a commotion began to happen outside the lair in the crater, Talaz had already gone to check it out. Sigur kept an eye on the situation from the lair entrance as Talaz interacted with an injured Skydancer and an injured imperial who appeared to have painfully crash landed in the crater.

Talaz looked up to Sigur, who gave his adopted son a small nod of reassurance. Sigur watched as Talaz said a few more words to the pair before the Skydancer helped the imperial to her feet and the trio made their way on foot up the canyon wall to the lair. In the time it took the three to get into the lair, Sigur had gone to gather the bandaged and ointments from storage within the lair. Sigur introduced himself to the pair, who were called Ice and Stralucire. Sigur talked to the pair about their escape from the clans in the Wasteland as he and Talaz helped to clean up their injures. When Vrancea and Bratus arrived home, Talaz introduced them to Ice and Stralucire. Sigur mentioned having finished the the nesting den and with a little help, it was quickly turned into a den for Ice and Stralucire while they stayed.

It seemed like every time anyone left the den now, there was another dragon who became a part of the lair's chosen family. Sigur took charge of the constant renovations as the lair continuously grew while Vrancea lead hunting and gathering parties with the help of Bratus. By the end of the year, 15 dragons had become a part of the lair, not counting the hatchlings-- of which there were quite a few. It was crowded despite everyone pitching in to make new tunnels and dens. It was at this point that Vrancea and Sigur had decided that the lair needed more structure so over a meal, with all lair members present, together Vrancea and Sigur began to lay down rules and roles for the dragons of the newly declared clan.

Vrancea and Sigur have happily running the clan for decades and have seen many dragons come and go from their ever-growing family but both expect and hope to see the clan continue to thrive for decades to come.
