the first word that would come to mind looking at a gaoler without fur would be solid and perhaps big. beneath their coats gaolers are structured very much like a proper, giant, muscular, long barrel-necked, solid-spined, village-burning early 2010's high quality digital art dragon made of pure solid muscle. though not by any means bulging, the structure of their body has an impression to it that suggests their flesh is rock hard power all the way down and would probably reflect bullets.
a gaoler's thick neck is very long and muscular, but like owls, is hidden in a mass of fur. slightly bent in a sideways squashed and less extremely curved s-like shape and very very hard in order to to hold it's own weight and the weight of it's antlers and large chin used for bashing and chipping away at ice and shifting snow, capable of stretching out and retracting and swinging side to side almost like a camera on a stick, it's mobility impaired by it's weight and the mass of fur around it.
gaoler's legs are one again solid, straight up and down affairs like tree trunks with ursine paws. they must be very thick and straight to hold their weight, like mammoths. official gaolers art actually shows them in a very strange pose. gaolers have very limited mobility in their kegs compared to other breeds. being fairly straight and rarely bending them for any reason, much less as a pose for standing. unlike other large breeds a gaoler's front limbs have traded away all dexterity and most mobility for pure power. a gaoler's clumsy stiff batting swing would send your head flying off your shoulders faster that you could blink, visibly with the power of a truck crash behind it. if a gaoler brings their paw down near you, you will feel it. every part of them is immensely heavy and proportionately strong to be able to move at all.
with the front legs so hyperspecialized for holding weight and for short lightning fast bursts of pure clumsy primal undirected power, the function of manipulator limbs instead falls to the reduced wings.
a gaoler does not have wings, a gaoler has a second set of arms. placed and functioning similarly to the second and third arms of the skeksis, gaoler's wings are still very much power over dexterity, but retain enough fine motor control to function as grasping appendages, and hands. this pseudohexapod, almost basilisk-like body plan is more visible when there is no fur for the wings to be obscured through, their natural position being folded up inside the body fur out of sight. though fine motor tasks are beyond it, anything a hand can do, a gaoler wing can (roughly) do too-gesture, hold objects, wield weapons, use tools. a gaoler may not have the capability to weave delicate laces but the either laughable or terrifying image of a draconic wall of fur barreling towards you through the snow with swords as long as airplane wings clutched in huge muscular arms where their wings should be is a real possibility. there are several forms of gaoler sign language based entirely on gestures with the hand-wings and several are common signals in military use. it is possible that this is in some way related to gaolers being unwilling to engage in any form of decoration or trinket-collecting.
gaolers sometimes view the "unrefined" wing-limbs of other dragons as primitive and animal-like, as if they are still wild beasts, needing their wild-parts to flee like panicked chickens from predators in the wild more than what these simple bestial parts could become to participate in civilization. unevolved-the same way someone might look at a caveman that has only just discovered fire and barely seems more than a misshapen balding ape speaking in grunts, or the way people often go on about the human gift of thumbs. some gaolers consider it tragic and a sign of primitiveness of other dragons that their wings have not yet been pressured enough to evolve out of their unrefined wild flight form, that they are still built like animals, and such physicality must naturally reflect their primitive mental and intelligence state too.

possibly in his youth was a mischevious little child who would get into trouble as young little kids whi just want to play do, not in a maliciousway just in a small child ni the cookei jar kind of way that gaoler society notheless clamps down on to mold all gaolers into the serious work-only adults they become
