Biography

Ysolda “Skullface” Sunshine

Female // She/Her // Bisexual
- - - - - Y S O L D A ,- S E N T I N E L

Furry Icewarden Puppet - - - ▢ Personality and Role
Ysolda takes crap from no dragon. You can be sure that when she puts her mind to something, she is damn well going to get it done. She couldn’t care less what most others think about her, as it is only the opinion of an important few that matter in her eyes. She’s probably one of the scariest dragons in the Caravan, among the mentally sound at least, and she prefers it that way. Especially given her tendency to get enjoyment out of scaring others. She didn’t put all that time into perfecting a spooky Shadow appearance to let it go to waste, after all. Still, despite her habit of dishing out jumpscares to almost anyone, Ysolda is an excellent Sentinel. Though she would have made a great Keeper or Overseer given that nothing seems to phase her, Ysolda’s stalwart dedication to any job she takes makes her a great Sentinel in the eyes of Warden Fortis. Justice doesn’t really seem to like Ysolda, seeing as she’s never even been to the Southern Icefield, but Ysolda doesn’t care about what Justice thinks. Her dedication and hard work more than makes up for a lack of prior experience. Although she doesn’t care what others say about her, Ysolda will not tolerate any harsh words to Terrace or Luvia. If they don’t like her partner and daughter? That’s fine, you don’t have to like anybody. But to put them down because you don’t like them? Nuh-uh, not going to slide. Whether it be to their faces or behind their backs, Ysolda is quick to shut down anyone being mean to her family. They don’t all have to get along, but they don’t all have to be a-holes to each other either.
Shady Crown - - - - ▢ History
Ysolda didn't always look this good. Born in the Tangled Wood, Ysolda hatched with extra thick and fluffy fur, otherwise known as the wintercoat gene. While it certainly helped keep her warm in the damp and dark forests, Ysolda hated how she looked. Most Shadow dragons had awesome markings or creepy costumes and paint to decorate them, so why couldn't Ysolda? "You are a proper Gaoler," they would always chide her. "You shall not stoop to the meaningless measures that these other dragons take to make themselves look stupid." Unfortunately for her parents, Ysolda was not to be deterred. The young Gaoler eloped the moment she could, planning to turn herself into a true dragon of the Shadow. Purchasing the write genes as well as the perfect outfit took quite a bit of saving up, and at times Ysolda wondered if she really wanted to change herself so drastically. But one look at the lilac hues of a twilight sky in the Tangled Wood, and Ysolda was reassured that she would be one of the most b!tchin' dragons there. Three gene scrolls, one scattersight, and a visit to a tailor later, Ysolda was complete. Her favorite part of her getup was her mask, an authentic skull covering that covered the upper half of her face. Parading her knew looks around whenever she went, Ysolda's tenancy to scare the unsuspecting led her to meet a fellow scare-oriented prankster. Terrace was like Ysolda in the way that they both liked to scare others, but his scares usually had a comedic twist, while Ysolda was all about a quick fright. Unsurprisingly, the two began to travel together, even adopting a little Tundra to turn their duo into a trio. Now, all three live in the Caravan thanks to Terrace's quick building skills, and Ysolda is free to keep up with the jumpscares as long as she does her job.
Boneyard Tatters - - - - ▢ Name
Ysolda’s first name was her parents’ first attempt to raise her into a “fine young Gaoler”. When translated, it can mean both “ice ruler” and “fair lady”. Of course, only one of those things turned out to be true depending on who you ask, but Ysolda has no plans to change her name. She likes to add a hiss to it when she says it. As for her surname, "Sunshine", it's due to her color. Though she had a different surname at birth, she changed it to Sunshine upon meeting Terrace, both to forget about her old family and to solidify her bond with Terrace. Her nickname, "Skullface", is naturally due to the mask that she wears all the time.

▢ Trivia
  • Though she got her apparel from a tailor, that doesn't mean it's made of cloth. The drape over her chest is actually made of leather from a Gaoler long gone, charmed to last any rigorous lifestyle without wear or tear. This shouldn't be a surprise, considering that the skull is real as well.
  • Eats bones sometimes, as she despises the taste of milk. Need to get a healthy amount of calcium in her diet somehow.
  • Surprisingly good around familiars. If she wasn't already a Sentinel, Ysolda would probably have the sole job of taking care of the Caravan's pets. Her expertise probably comes from experience in using insects, spiders, snakes, bats, and all sorts of other, generally creepy animals in her pranks.
  • Through trial and error, Ysolda has decided that her favorite dragon to scare is Alastair, seeing as he has the best reactions. A high-pitched scream and award-winning freakout is more than worth a lifetime of tampered meals. Ysolda has a stomach of steal anyways (and she can cook for herself just fine).
