History Spirit's father was a Water guardian, and her mother was a Wind skydancer. They had met in Wind territory, and Spirit was born in the midland plains of the Windswept Plateau. In her youth she would slowly soar over the whole territory. The family eventually moved to the Tsunami Flats and had more children there. Spirit lived with them for a long time in Water territory, reluctant to leave the family she loved; they were similarly reluctant to see her go. She became a scout patrolling the eastern Water borders along Light and Lightning. One day, she caught Valour "borrowing" fish; it was a puzzling situation, because while she was familiar with this behavior from Lightning ridgebacks, this one was doing it from Light territory. Not only that, but he had some bizarre genes she had never seen before. When she told her superiors, Spirit was sent to the ridgeback's clan to find out what was going on, and she found out that the clan did not approve of his actions. In the process, she learned a little bit about Brightleaf Grove, that there was restricted-access research underway on the nearby ruins, and that something in the area caused the gene changes. This prompted her to investigate whether there was anything similar in Water. With the help of her scholarly sister, Eventide, she learned that there was a similar structure in Leviathan Trench that produced similar effects on the inhabitants there. Spirit accompanied her sister to that part of the Trench and spoke with the dragons there. When she met Gilmour she immediately knew that Gilmour was to be her charge. Not long after that, the first pink opal spot appeared on Spirit's scales, seemingly sealing the connection by giving her similar colors to Gil's. Gil, thankfully, took to her right away and asked all sorts of questions about life on land. Spirit was glad for Gil's curiosity, because aside from learning what she came to learn, Spirit did not want to stay in the Trench; she feared the deeps, as any Wind dragon might. To smooth the transition and further her own goals for knowledge, Eventide offered Gil and Spirit a joint job as liaison between Water's schools, Gil's own clan of origin, and Brightleaf. In just a few short days they left for Fishspine Reef to begin their new adventures together. |

Occupation: Guardian of Gilmour
The combination of her Wind values with her guardian duties leads Spirit to work toward her charge having freedom and being the best version of themselves. She accompanies Gil wherever she goes, but tries to give her space as much as possible.
Role in clan: Guard
Spirit is not always with Brightleaf, and thus not considered a regular part of the defense team.
Skills and hobbies
Since she comes from a large family, she is better acquainted with the challenges of managing groups than most of the dragons in the clan. She looks out for both individual needs and the need of the group to have cooperation. She is also good at coming up with creative solutions to problems.
Personality and quirks
Spirit can sometimes be too optimistic for her own good, expecting things to work out and then being very disappointed when they don't. However, her expectation and goal of positivity tends to work out well for her, leading her to empathize with others, offer help, and build strong friendships with appropriate boundaries.
Clan interactions
Accompanying Gil sometimes means having little energy left for anything else. Spirit has spent most of her social energy getting to know Telperion, Hoji and Sonna; she sees these dragons as part of the backbone of the clan.
