KEEPER OF THE CERDAE

"Hold on - let me brush your mane!"
Herds of graceful Cerdae graze in the eternal fields of the Starwood Strand. They live in safety and tranquility, frolicking through the grass and tossing their waterfall manes in the gleaming sunlight. They glance up at the sound of footsteps. They beat their hooves into the dirt, preparing to run. A rose-colored dragon reveals faeself, pawing through the underbrush. The Cerdae instantly relax. They know this dragon. It is only Kipp. They know fae as 'friend,' but the rest of the Fae Court know Kipp as Keeper of the Cerdae. King Silva has placed this herd under faer protection. Kipp is tasked with ensuring that no harm befalls a single mare, stallion, or foal. The Cerdae adore their caretaker. The feeling is certainly mutual. They all coexist in peace together, playing through the King's fields of wildflowers. It's truly a beautiful sight to behold-- and one of the more attractive features of Silva's Faerie Court.
"Ah, what a life!"
Kipp does not view faer Cerdae companions as beasts. Fae can see the brilliance and vivacity in each being's doe-like gaze. The Cerdae are clever, chatty, and playful. They love to prank their keeper. They seem to converse in a language far too ancient for any dragon to comprehend, but if Kipp listens carefully, fae can usually figure out what they're saying. The creatures have a wealth of knowledge about the surrounding natural landscape, weather patterns, monsters to avoid, and more. This allows Kipp key insight into the workings of the lands. Fae use this information to alert the Court when a storm is on its way, or when danger is afoot. Many members of the Fae Court believe Kipp to merely be some kind of pet sitter, but those that know the truth understand the importance of faer role.
"Now just hold your claw out slow and careful-like..."
The Cerdae have slowly been warming up to Kipp's partners, Siofra and Eilonwy. The latter has an easier time with the former, since Eily often brings delectable treats from the king's royal gardens. Kipp is teaching faer partners patience. It takes time to earn the trust of a being from the wilds. It's a lovely way for the trio to bond, spend some time in the fields, and revel in each other's company. The Cerdae can sense how much Kipp loves Eilonwy and Siofra. They are far less timid with them than with other dragons. Once, a young foal even licked Siofra right on the face! Laughter rang out through the glen as fae bemoaned the amount of slobber fae would have to clean off faer scales. What a gorgeous moment for the three of them to remember.
