Marusya

Marusya is a murderous dragon eating plant hybrid creature who is essentially a pitcher plant with teeth. Her egg had been abandoned in the Viridian labyrinth, but in an area with a lot of carnivorous plants, and her egg merged with the carnivorous plant seeds. Due to this strange yet somehow natural happening, parts of her body which haden't grown in were replaced with thick plant ones, as well as leafy appendages, vines and branches. Due to these adaptations, she is able to live among carnivorous plants without getting eaten, but is highly territorial and aggressive to other dragons, often hunting and eating them.

Alright, not all of that is true. There is one detail that isn't quite correct in that statement. You see, Marusya's egg wasn't abandoned, rather her parents, a pair of scientists, made a deal with another group of scientists in a lab situated deep in the Viridian Labyrinth to help with a series of experiments dealing with the fusion of plants and dragons. After running out of test subjects because of failed fusions, her parents were forced to use their own egg. Their daughter was the only successful fusion that survived and continued to live, and was subsequently experimented on.

Marusya was studied and prodded, never learned how to read or write, and can barely speak draconic only because she listened to her parents and the others talking and mimicked them, but no one cared enough to actually hold a conversation with her. Her parents soon stopped thinking of her as their hatchling, and only as their experiment. The experiments and testing began as simple tests of how the fusion had been successful specifically with her and no other test subjects, but began to turn darker as they began to test her strength, her limits, her responses to fear. They got worse and worse, and she began to fight back, not wanting to be experimented on anymore, but her emotions were ignored and they began to use shock rods on her to subdue her.

Constantly afraid, in pain, stressed from her environment, and having received no nurture or care from her parents, Marusya wasn't seen as a young dragonet and only as a test subject, she escaped. Previous attempts were stopped and she was punished severely, but nonetheless she still tried. After years of trial and error, she finally succeeded, and in her escape burned down the lab. She didn't care if she would doom many dragons to death, they had never shown her any care or compassion, and now they were paying for what they did to her.

Marusya hid deep in the Viridian Labyrinth, in an area completely covered in dragon eating plants, just to make sure she wouldn't be caught again. Because of her altered biology, she was able to have all the perks of being a dragon and a plant: she could eat and drink through her roots and eat animals through her pitcher plant stomach, absorb and convert sunlight into energy through her leaves, while also being able to move and fly with her legs and wings and grab things with her vines. Her only real friend, in her opinion, is her Amaranth Moth familiar, Molly.
