Even as a hatchling, Toxica had a keen mind for learning, particularly for strategy. She read many books about strategy, both in war and in peace, and this knowledge began to show in her life as she broke up quarrels between her clanmates (mostly between Sventlin and someone else) and invented logical solutions to small problems. Hyra began training her to work as a diplomat to other clans, and Wraith taught her as many advanced battle tactics as she knew. Under their tutelage, Toxica became a clever diplomat as a brilliant battle strategist. She and Sventlin grew into a powerful duo, with Tox mapping out clever strategies and Sventlin carrying them out to deadly effect. The two sisters were and continue to be very close despite their different personalities.
Toxica's logical skills brought her to the attention of Ash, who took her on as an apprentice diplomat. She is now one of Clan Phantom's primary ambassadors, and she is a great help in managing and creating the clan's alliances.
For many long years, Toxica struggled with her inability to locate her charge. She never felt the pull that the other guardians described, nor the feeling of something deep inside her whispering her lifelong purpose. This frustrated her to know end, and she began to believe that she was a failure of a guardian, destined to live a broken, chargeless life. With the help of her sister, she was able to pull through this trial, though she longed for the day she would finally feel the pull of the search.
One day, Ash and Keegan returned from a diplomatic trip to the Ashfall Wastes with a newly-hatched wildclaw named Cinder. Due to infighting in the Wastes, her parents had thought it best to send her somewhere more peaceful, and Clan Phantom had volunteered to take her. Toxica was struck by a peculiar feeling the first time she laid eyes on Cinder, as if something were pulling her forward. She quickly realized what was happening: this tiny dragon was her charge. Toxica had not felt the pull of the Search because her charge had not existed until recently, and now her charge was here.
Cinder was given into Toxica's care, though it was mostly Hyra who cared for her at first. Tox had no experience with caring for a hatchling, and was often fretful that her lack of experience would harm her tiny charge. Hyra coached her through every step and encouraged Tox with her own stories of first-time motherhood. Toxica is still nervous about her new responsibilities, but the whole clan pitches in to help her and Cinder adjust to their new lives, so she doesn't feel alone. Tox takes Cinder to visit her home clan whenever the opportunity arises.
