Biography

Deep Sea Thresher

My minions have not yet risen.. the world will know me soon enough..

-Look upon my radiance and serve me...

Sorathrell, which is apparently not his true name, is a mysterious dragon. He spends a lot of his time submerged in water, he seems to prefer water over land which made him an outcast in his home flight of nature. His eyes also caused dragons to become uneasy. Dragons had a good reason to feel uneasy around him however as Sorathrell seems to have an unnatural influence on other dragons. He can convince weaker willed dragons to do his bidding. The Clan de la Noche welcomes him, but many find him suspicious. Others avoid him, and some.. like Llamarada, crave his power. Sorathrell however will submit to no-one and anyone who tries to use him will find a great trouble awaits them.

His eyes do not make dragons uneasy because of the Goat mutation.. some say his eyes have a strange, soulless look to them.. or as if it were to steal the soul of whoever were locked in it's gaze. It is unknown if the dragons who fall under his spell can or will be released. His intentions are unknown and he hardly speaks. Those who hear him speak are more often the ones he is enchanting than not, and many fear speaking to him. He sometimes goes by "Sora" instead of Sorathrell and prefers Sora'threll in written form.

Observations: Sora'threll seems to have an incredibly unnatural effect on it's own offspring. Almost all of the offspring of Sora'threll have developed the hypnotic eye mutation. A mutation thought impossible to produce under normal circumstances.

-Sora'threll continues to be a mystery in our dragon research. It is still unknown how Sora'threll influences other dragons, and what all the influence entails. There are very few signs that a dragon is under the influence of Sora'threll until Sora'threll calls them. It is also unknown if Sora'threll can release a dragon from this influence.

Sora'threll had recently taken in a child and changed it's eyes to look like his own. He caused the Goat mutation in the child. He began caring for and raising the child for a currently unknown reason.
-Notes: The child's purpose has been determined after days of research! He identified the dragon he wants as his mate and took influence over her. All offspring have resulted in the Hypnotic eye mutation. It is still unknown how this mutation occurs in his offspring, nor how he can mutate the eyes of hatchlings who were already conceived.

Sora'threll's mate obtained some of the power to influence other dragons upon recieving the mutation. His offspring with her also display some of his powers in a much weaker form. Each hatchling seems only able to influence one to three dragons at a time, with some having apparent affinities to an element or even familiar control.

Sora'threll took control of quite a few dragons in the clan recently.. what they did next was surprising and unexplained. The dragons that he controlled took several different methods of leaving the clan. Some simply left to find new homes, others went to serve a seemingly random handful of deities. We have no idea why he decided to weed dragons out of the clan or why he seems intent on leaving the clan leadership alone. It does seem that he wants to avoid being noticed by the clan leadership for the time being. I would report my findings to the leader.. but I could see it going wrong in far too many ways.

New information on Sora: Any direct descendants of Sora'threll are connected to him. It is not known exactly in what manner they are connected, but Sora'threll seems to have some influence over them.
We have noted that direct descendants have the "Swirl" eye trait by default. Any eye type that is rarer, such as facetted, multigaze, primal, and goat are considered more connected. Any dragons who revert back to a normal eye type, or are born without magical eyes are not connected to Sora'threll. Sora'threll seems to ignore the fact that they even exist at that point, and the bloodline connected through the affected child is also negated. We have also been studying what we believe is the effect of different eyes on the direct descendants.
There is also a rare connection to third descendants, though Sora rarely pays attention to these. They are known as "bound" and often feel a pulling sensation in their mind rather than Sora'threll's voice. Bound dragons are lucky if they can manipulate even one dragon at a time, and are often melded into mindless for Sora'threll's masses instead. Very few bound are lucky enough to resist Sora'threll's will. Bound are also only produced by a mutation of their eyes. Removing the mutation has lead to blindness, death, loss of desire to do anything, or the complete loss of free will or sanity. It is extremely dangerous to attempt to "unbind" a bound dragon from Sora's will, but it is occasionally better than the alternative.

Direct descendants hear the "call of Sora'threll, while second descendants hear his echo. Direct descendants of Sora'threll are referred to as "Descendants" and second descendants are referred to as "Echos." Echos of Sora'threll are not bound by the same rules as descendants. Swirl eyes are not common among echos, and only echos with some sort of eye mutation are connected to him at all. It is believed that if the child is born without the connection to Sora'threll, a descendant can "bestow" Sora'threll's presence on them. This usually means swirl sight, but that simply means the connection was weakened. Echos get all the abilities of the descendants based on which eye mutation they have, but all of those abilities are weaker, and they can manipulate less dragons at once. All of Sora'threll's brood have a form of manipulation over other dragons. Some more invasive than others.

Swirl: The most basic of connections to Sora'threll, found on most of his descendants. These dragons can hear his voice, and therefore can exert small control over other dragons. They are also the most prone to being controlled themselves. Swirl eyed descendants are considered as Sora's militia. Echos with this mutation can not spread the bloodline further into their offspring.

Multigaze: It is believed that regardless of whether or not the extra eyes on a descendant are functional for them, that Sora'threll can utilize them. It is believed that Sora'threll can see through the extra eyes at will, and likely without the knowledge of the descendant. Sora'threll has less direct control over these dragons, but they hear his voices as the others. If Sora'threll is using their eyes, some descendants have reported that his voice becomes louder, though this doesn't seem to be the case most often. Echos with this mutation can produce hatchlings bound to Sora'threll.

Faceted: It is theorized that facetted eyes in Sora's brood allow both him, and the child to see or detect magic. Even magic that is obscured becomes easily visible to them, which negates potential traps for them. It also allows them to see, at a glance, which dragons are powerful, and which ones are not. This is especially true if the observed dragon is a mage, and in the case of a mage, the potential can also be seen. Facetted children can hear the call of Sora'threll strongly, and have a greater urge to spread his lineage and serve his will. Some facetted descendants are born blind, and this weakens their connection to Sora, giving them more free will. They are still able to see magic however, and it often proves somewhat disorienting to perceive only the presence of magic. Blind Facetted dragons often become mages, seers, or monks. Echos with this mutation can not spread the bloodline further into their offspring.

Goat: Direct descendants born with goat eyes are said to have excellent night vision, and can see perfectly underwater regardless of element. It is also believed that Sora'threll gifts goats with siphoned power, making goats the strongest of his linked children. We believe that he favors the goat mutation heavily, perhaps because he sees a resemblance to his beloved mate and champion, Atravesara. Perhaps also because it is a direct reflection of himself. Echos with this mutation can produce hatchlings bound to Sora'threll.

Primal: Naturally connected to both Sora'threll and their home element, Primal descendants are considered flaws. Because the birth element is so strongly connected, Sora'threll finds more difficulty and power is required to utilize them. Primals are said to hear his voice the faintest of all other direct descendants. Impure primals, ones with a weak connection also have an uncanny affinity for animals and familiars, often commanding them like puppets. Afflicted familiars appear disturbing, and don't appear to be alive. Familiars being freed from this state has not been recorded. Echos with this mutation can not spread the bloodline further into their offspring.

Glowing: Glowing eyed descendants can hear Sora'threll's voice the loudest, though they are not often prone to his influence. It is believed that at will, Sora'threll can take control over any dragon who can see the glowing eyes of his descendants. Since glowing eyed descendants have a lot of their free will left, they will often use covers of some sort, either blinding themselves with the cover, or negating the magic. They are considered to be flawed by Sora'threll, and often are described as partially disabled because of their eyesight troubles. Furthering their stress, echos with this mutation can produce hatchlings bound to Sora'threll.

Dark Sclera: The descendants with the dark sclera mutation have permanently lost a part of themselves to Sora'threll. It is unknown whether this is a failed connection, a punishment of some sort, or a dragon's failed attempt at removing the connection to Sora'threll. What is known however is that these dragons tend to lose something in their mind. Most often reported as either missing emotions or insanity. They still hear Sora'threll's voice, and any who succumb to it become his mindless servant. It is unknown whether or not the complete loss of free will can be reversed, and usually it is better to banish or imprison the afflicted. Echos with this mutation can produce hatchlings bound to Sora'threll.

Innocent: This mutation is an odd one, as it doesn't seem to benefit Sora'threll nearly as much as the others. Dragons with the Innocent eye mutation have a much greater sway on other dragons. Almost like a natural charisma, they can easily lie, or persuade other dragons. These dragons often end up being famous or popular in their chosen area, with their own personal entourage of charmed servants. This control is closer to the power of suggestion however, and strong willed dragons will be unaffected. The effects are also not permanent, and can be removed simply by preventing the afflicted from seeing the descendant for a few hours or days, depending on the individual. This does not count if they haven't seen the descendant of their own accord. Sora'threll also indicates absolutely no control over the "charmed" dragons, and the voice is very faint for these descendants. Sora'threll does not consider these to be flaws however, leading us to wonder what his purpose for them is. Echos with this mutation can not spread the bloodline further into their offspring.
