Biography

Dimension Shifter
Shade has a very strange ability to experience things beyond the standard three dimensional experience most creatures of Sornieth have. She's befriended shades that live outside of time, walked in 2D through Anime's sketchbooks, and given many a dragon heart attacks after demonstrating her ability to teleport right on top of their breakfasts from the morning paper. She's a kindly, very powerful chaos-creator, and she doesn't even notice. To Shade, a multi-dimensional existence is standard, so she doesn't quite understand that other dragons do not experience the world as she does.
She's clever but kind of unobservant. Hobbies include dragon-watching and composing short stories while inside nearby paper.
Since her son Wishbone started up the Triple Threat Casino, her daily life of dragon-watching has included watching for cheaters and jump-scaring dragons in the Casino at the funniest (to her, at least) moments.

When she was young, barely out of her egg, her parents had the local wizard bless her and her siblings with Luck, as the couple had never been able to raise a clutch to maturity before, even moving out of the Wastelands to improve the chances of their childrens' survival. While the blessing was successful, and Shade and all her siblings lived to maturity, the blessing had some, uh, effects on Shade's sons.
Wishbone and Neon both have conscious influence over their personal Luck, with Wishbone also able to affect others' Luck by trading his for theirs and Neon able to affect the Luck of an Outcome of his choice.
So, if an experiment goes wrong, Neon can influence the reaction's Luck to not blow up the whole lab and instead just burn a table or two, and maybe through the floor. This as also part of the reason he never goes in the Casino-- he'd win all the games no problem, so he gets no fun out of it.
This is also why Wishbone loves running the Casino, he can just guarantee someone has the best or worst gambling night of their lives and watch their reactions.

Shade didn't have to know she was perfect. Her mother told her so, right when she was born, and so it was.

Her siblings were... okay, she guessed, but weak. They didn't have her energy, and cried when she bit at them in play. One was taken on hatching-day, happily leaving into a life of misery, Shade was sure. After all, strange dragons like that just looked miserable.

Shade herself was growing quickly, and quickly grew bored with her lone quiet brother, instead sneaking out to go see the rest of the lair. There were dragons of all shapes and sizes, all with different genes and colors, and Shade took it all in with glee.

Then one patch of shadow, near her feet, shifted. She jumped- she hadn't expected that pile of dead flowers to be a dragon, after all. But when she looked closer... there wasn't a dragon there, just a shimmer in the air and a wisp of overwhelming misery.

"Hello?" She prodded at the flowers, watching them shift again without a jump. "That's pretty cool- where'd you learn to disappear like that?"

The flowers laid still for a moment, before a masked skull swung her way, the hatchling leaping back in shock.

"Í̷̹ ̷̞̈ā̶̼m̴̮̈ ̴͕͆S̴̿͜h̵͔́â̸̺d̸̡̈́ẻ̵̯.̶̲̚ ̷̹̅H̵͈͌ô̸̥w̸͇͐ ̵̲̿c̷̮̒ă̸̤n̷͎̐ ̶̭̐y̷͓͆o̵̓͜ụ̸̋ ̴̟̓s̵̬͠e̴̦̾e̵̻̊ ̴̠̏m̶̹̉e̷͈͋?̵̟̿" said the skull, tilting slightly in the air.

"I can't, that's the point. And hey!" added the Imperial, drawing herself up to her full height, still far under the now dipping skull. "That's my name, you don't get to steal it!"

The skull pondered this for a moment, the crushing misery lifting ever so slightly. "I̶̳͝ ̶̠̄ĥ̵̥á̷͓v̵̧͗e̶̛̱ ̴̛̳ň̵̝o̵̻̐ ̸͔̄ǒ̴̧ẗ̸́ͅh̵̘̽ē̷̱r̵̡͗ ̶̻͗n̵̛̪a̴̗̓m̷̩̈e̴̜̽.̴͇̿ ̵͚̂Ï̵͚t̴͖̐ ̸̱̈́w̴͖͝a̴̼͑s̷̥͝ ̶͙͑g̷͊ͅi̴̟͛v̵͔́e̶̗̓n̷̞̊ ̴̭̏t̸̘͗o̵̢͠ ̴̢̚m̶̬̑e̷̞͌ ̷̞̈́b̴̠͛ẙ̶̝ ̴̳́m̴̳͆y̷̥̌ ̸͖̈́m̸̳̈́ḯ̷͇s̷̥̉t̵͚͒r̸̩͛ẻ̸̘s̵̠̅ṣ̷͘.̷̯̅"

Shade sniffed. "Then pick a different one! That one's mine!" Then, something the skull had said sunk in. ".........Mistress? What does that mean?"

The skull settled on the ground near her, like a resting dragon, and before Shade could really think about what she was doing, she had crept up to lay next to the flowers, feeling a chilly gust lay across her back.

The ghost spoke to her for a long time, patiently answering every question with a soft, melancholy tone, until Shade saw her father coming down the hall, looking left and right with a loving, if exasperated expression.

"Hey- I have to go. But... I wanna come back. Can I?"

The shade tilted its head again, and nodded once.

"Got it." Shade nodded back firmly, shaking out her wings and moving out from under the flowery garlands. "And by the way? I'm gonna call you Skull now. Okay? My name's Shade."

It was silent for a moment more, long enough for the hatchling to get impatient and rush off, before he quietly responded. "T̸̙̒h̶̢̒à̴̱ť̷̟ ̵̱̽s̶͙̀o̴̠͛ṳ̸͝ń̵̨d̷͔͝s̷̰̀.̶̦́.̸̈́ͅ ̵̘̾n̵̡̓ḯ̸͚c̸̳̓e̸͙̾.̸͑͜"
