Biography
Allison -> Yoldu
Name: Yoldu
Faction: Rogue -> Assassin -> Infiltrator
This nifty dragon is hated everywhere for her ability to silently pickpocket while slyly keeping up conversation with her smooth speech. She has reward posters up everywhere offering amounts of treasure that even she couldn’t steal enough for.
Yoldu lives in a world of despair. She was diagnosed with a terminal illness that doesn’t even appear visibly on her body. She tries to cover this up in her mind by stealing, getting that rush of adrenaline, that excitement that could always be her last. The worst part is that Yoldu hasn’t told anyone. Who could she tell? Who would be willing to listen to a poor dragon’s tale? Why, she’d get herself turned in in a heartbeat! And they couldn’t keep her in a prison. She’d gotten herself out of prisons before. No, they’d keep her somewhere worse. Maybe they would even kill her.
This thought makes her stop. What if the guards would do Yoldu that one little favor? Just end her suffering, heal her in the only way possible? What if they could stop her tireless running, her exhausting existence? This makes her wonder: What if they could end her pain?
* * *
Yoldu wanders through the streets, instinctively ducking into shadows, then forcing herself to walk normally, out in the sunlight. I must look so odd, she thinks to herself, wandering and weaving through the patterns of light and dark like this.
The difference between this day and every other is that today, she wants to get captured. She wants the guards to find her, to pin her to the ground and beat her with their clubs until she’s black and blue and finally unconscious, able to sleep with both eyes closed for once.
“Hey,” whispers a voice. Yoldu glances around and sees a black dragon. A guard dragon. A guard with the uniform and build of a guard from The Organization.
“Is this you?” he asks, pointing to a nearby reward poster sporting the words: WANTED. DEAD OR ALIVE.
Weakly, Yoldu nods, expecting a beating. When none came, she whimpers, “I came to be arrested.”
“Oh, you won’t be arrested,” the guard tells the Pearlcatcher. “You’ll be banished to the Boneyard for life. You know, dragons get lost out there, or killed by packs of Mirrors. But I’ll grant you this deal.”
Yoldu waits, shivering with anticipation and fear.
“You run as fast as you can right now, and I won’t say a word to the higher ups.”
Yoldu knows that she should thank the dragon, but there’s no time for that. She turns and runs, tears welling in her eyes as she realizes that she’s on the run again.
