Poison
Opal
Junglass is a distinguished spy, well versed in seduction & bewitching fragrances.
The aromatic toxin his wings exude causes paralysis, while the distilled compound minutely poured in a vial jewel induces an instant sleep in petrified depths…
& then in a pinch, Venom injects their own cocktail to trigger memory loss.

He's escaped all plights, scattered scent on the breeze & dart through the gales.
His lovers, his lords & his victims all agree he's a real gem, like the opal whisked in mist…
Reportedly, there's an Indian myth about a woman sought after by the gods, turned into first rainbow mist in the wind then the shimmering stone, to discourage her suiters.
Opal etymology originates in Sanskrit upala [jewel].

The secret to his sixth sense & spy tricks are a mysterious, happenchance encounter which resulted in an empathetic bond with…

— Croaking Boglights

Croaking Boglight Shadow

Size: Small
Diet: Bugs, Worms, Mushrooms, Fungi
Category: Semi-Aquatic
Peak-a-boo: Oct - Dec
10/52 Species

It is a widely debated topic whether these creatures are a bad omen, or good fortune. Croaking Boglights roam damp forests, marshes, mires and swamps, but they also share a connection to nature and the spirits that dwell there. They are primarily nocturnal and remain out of sight during the day, but the glow of their tiny jack-o-lantern growths can be seen in the dark of night.

Among their favored foods are worms and fungi. Croaking Boglights consume all kinds of mushrooms, even toxic ones, and use those toxins to create a noxious cloud of spores when they need self defense. Because of their peculiar nature, these teeny amphibians are a favored familiar among vampires, witches and necromancers, as they make perfect spies in and around their lairs.
Bottled
It is only known among seasoned adventurers that Croaking Boglights originate from a mother gourd that links all its progeny through telepathy. This "queen gourd" as it is often referred to, is a massive gnarled pumpkin covered in fungal growths. These fungi act as food for young Boglights who rely on the mother gourd while they are growing. They follow the will of the gourd, to survive and thrive.

In the event that their mother gourd is compromised, adult Boglights will dig into the earth and bury themselves until their tiny growth germinates into a new mother gourd, thus establishing a new colony.

One should be wary when they come across a Croaking Boglight, as what one set of eyes see all will see, and some may not forget a face.
