______PERSONA/INTRO/BLURB

Some might call her stunted.

Ravn never took to speech, unable or unwilling to form the words of others, and nigh on exclusively communicates through body language. Outsiders may find it unsettling, this strange dragon hiding within the deepest shadows in the night that utters not a single word, whilst most others have long since grown used to her quirks.

No matter which side one stands on, it is undeniable that Ravn is a child of the land, and is a useful boon for all those living beneath Valhall's banners.

Her personality is fickle and fluctuating, shifting according to her company, and retains only the undeniable, constant thread of gleeful aggression that makes up the very core of her being. There is a fierceness beneath her ever-changing outer masks, violent for the sake of violence, and many find it unnerving. She does not hide these parts of herself—in that way, she is honest.

In other ways, she is not.

Ravn seemingly mimics what she observes around her, adapting her personas to match whomever she's with, and refining her acts over time. She has nigh on perfected the visage of the warrior, and hides effortlessly amongst the swift scouts, and cannot quite manage to disappear into the background among the merchants and tradefolk. All these acts of hers are still uniquely Ravn, no matter that it is so very difficult to pinpoint what it is that makes it so.

» Is one of Valhall's best trappers; she supplies a staggering amount of the pelts they sell. And they are nigh on flawless almost every single time.

» Ravn does not speak. To accommodate it, a whole language of signs, signals, and sound was incorporated, which is now widely used by most in Valhall.

» Has specific personas for almost every permanent member of Valhall. The most refined personas are reserved for those in the hunter squads, where she spends most of her time.

Sharing a raw, untamed fury, these two get along surprisingly well. One would think they would clash violently, end up in a struggle for power, yet they coexist. Thrive on the violence, side by side, and the old gods may have mercy on the soul of anyone facing these two together in battle. Over time, Ravn even ended up becoming the unofficial fifth member of the Bloodwing family.

Trapped beneath the ice, a single wayward shadow egg laid for years upon years. Dislodged by a curious tide, the egg carried it's cold-blooded passenger with it. The frigid sea brought it further and further before it was washed ashore near the minuscule beaches at the foot of the mountain that held the Fortress of Ends- more specifically, a mere stones throw from the ports of Valhall. It was there Kva found it, the then fresh member of Valhall bringing it back with her.

Hatching the egg went unusually fast. Not long after they'd tucked it into a warm nest did the shell bubble and crumble, Ravn clawing her way out of the gooey remains of her egg. She'd surveyed her surroundings with unnatural awareness and understanding, a sign of impressive intellect, perhaps? Many found it unsettling as Ravn grew quickly, both physically and mentally. Yet she never seemed to adapt fully, her movements never natural and her behavior alike that of someone mimicking another with mild success. Like a shell of a dragon, doing everything correctly in theory but lacking the spark of life that all dragons held- the soul that shaped the mind.

The mages found it fascinating, if a bit concerning, and many wondered if the oddity of her hatching had left her stunted. Ravn struggled to fit in, trying her hand at much and failing often. Until she joined a hunting party. As if a switch had been flipped, Ravn thrived. Something raw and bloodthirsty lingered in her and, during the hunt, it was free. And then she, too, showed that spark of a soul- but it was not a pleasant sight. Over time, she learned to rein herself in and adjusted herself to function within the clan. It was a constant work in progress, yet over time, Ravn found some measure of balance. And if the other dragons noticed her bloodstained claws as she slithered inside with the cover of night, nobody mentioned it.

Being aggressive by nature, even if nobody could truly figure out why, it suits her better to have an outlet. Because to her, it made perfect sense. One of the first things she'd understood was that Valhall valued strength- so she became strong.

At first, it had been a calculated move to ensure her permanent place among Valhall. Strength and preservation laid among the core values of the clan, so she showed them how valuable she could be. As time moved on, Ravn found a genuine flicker in joy in the hunt. It was wild and raw, like her own urges and desires, and fed the constant bloodlust in the back of her mind. It took a lot of trying and failing to make it work, however, as she shredded her prey instead of bringing back anything of use. But she learned, adjusting her persona along the way.

It was strange, though, that she felt such a rush when hunting. It was foreign, even to her, to feel a sense of pleasure from doing anything. When she first brought back her hunted spoils, she could feel the disdain leaking from everyone. One dragon pointed out that the meat she brought back was useless, that she had torn it to shreds and the hide was unsalvageable. From then on, she worked to hunt cleanly. She began to tan the hides of the creatures she brought back herself, preserving any trophy items herself as well.

While her apparent glee was disheartening, she was one of the top providers of meat to the clan, so she was allowed to lead hunting parties herself. From there, she nursed relations with her new party, and they grew surprisingly close. It was the first time she had gotten along so well with any of the dragons in the clan, and it was good for her to have objects of affection that didn't incur bloodlust.
