Biography
Amarone was born into the Remaining, though her parents and most of her peers have long since departed, to the Wyrmwound or elsewhere. Through much of her young adulthood, she drifted aimlessly from role to role, not quite sure what she wanted to do but certain that she just hadn't found it yet. For lack of a better match, Radia paired her up with Daggersdrawn, the clan protector, in hopes that they might help each other find balance and bond; instead, theirs was an amicable but formal relationship, in which neither of them showed much intimacy towards the other save for bearing a clutch on schedule.
It was into this dynamic that Monarch stumbled, young and near death from exposure and malnourishment. Daggersdrawn had found her out in the Boneyard, and took her for carrion until she moved. He'd brought her back to the Remaining, where she thrived under Radia's watchful eye.
Amarone and Daggersdrawn drifted further apart over the next several years. They had never been close, and as Amarone became more interested in the potionscraft of the Serthis, she withdrew even further. When she noticed Monarch, now a sleek Fae in her prime, taking an interest in Daggersdrawn, and he returning it, she did as much as she could to stay out of the way, and even encourage both of them where possible.
So it was that Monarch approached her to ask for Amarone's blessing on a lifebond between herself and Daggersdrawn, and that Amarone gave it with no small amount of relief. She cared for the Mirror, but as one would any other clanmate or acquaintance, and not to the extent that he needed from a mate. As for herself, she had become increasingly sure that she not only didn't want romance in her life, but lacked any capacity for it whatsoever. Breeding was fine - it could even be fun - but the rest? It didn't suit her.
For the next several months, Amarone devoured all she could of chemistry, biology, botany, and the magical interactions that could be formed between different substances. And then--
An old, wizened Pearlcatcher came to the Trading Post. With him he brought a large cauldron full of a bubbling, roiling mixture, and from that cauldron he pulled wonders that could not have been shaped by anything less than a jubilance of magic and lore.
Amarone had found her calling. Now, she serves as the clan alchemist, in tandem with several allied Beastclan members who assist her in her brewing. She is currently in a pairing of convenience with Morningstar, a warrior-in-training who is perfectly happy to exchange his services as a stud and incubator for lessons from the battle-hardened leaders of the Remaining. More nights than not, she is near-buried among magical lights that illuminate furiously scribbled notes and sketches of new inventions or discoveries, only for Arkady, her hummingbird familiar and general put-upon assistant, to remind her that they both need to sleep eventually.
Amarone is passionate, intelligent, and she loves to learn. Above all that, though, she is surrounded by friends who match her pace for pace, thought for thought, that care about her and for whom she cares in return.
