Aki

Aki (or 'Aki) is hawaiian for Shadow

She had no name. She simply sat in a big room with many dragons with her brother, not understanding what was going on. Many dragons passed her by, some examining her before moving on. It was all she knew at the beginning of her life.

Then, something new happening.

An odd pair of dragons passed by. One looked like the sky she saw when the sun went away, while the other was much smaller, with a blue body and purple wings. They came and examined her and her brother, and left.

But they came back again. The sky dragon looked at her again, then turned to the smaller dragon.

"She's what a shadow ambassador should be. Not shimmering or shining, but still with some sort of pattern." He spoke with hope in his tone. "Plus... look at her price. She might be scooped up for fodder if we don't buy her."

The small dragon hesitated before speaking. "Are you sure she's the one?"

The sky dragon spoke again. "Yes. I swear it on my magic."

The small dragon came over to her. She shrunk away, scared of what might happen. "It's okay." The small dragon said in a soothing voice. "We're here to save you from this place. My name's Cather, and the dragon with me is Aetolus. We'll be part of your new family."

Aetolus handed something to another dragon, and she was allowed out of her place.

As she was guided out of the big room, Cather spoke. "What should we name her?"

Aetolus thought for a minute before replying. "Aki. It just sounds right."

"Aki." She repeated. Both of the older dragons stared at her in surprise. Then, Aetolus smiled.

"See? She agrees with me."
