Biography

Precocious Princess Pyeonggang

As a child, Princess Pyeonggang did not like to do as she was told. Her father, the king, struggled to find effective ways to deal with this disobedience. He enlisted her in the army, where she was molded into a fierce warrior, but it did nothing to break her spirit. He tried all forms of punishment, bargaining, and pleading, but still Pyeonggang remained wildly independent. It became a joke between them that if she could not learn to behave, he would have her wed to the lowliest peasant in the kingdom, Ondal.

When her father threatened to betrothe her to a stuck-up noble, Pyeonggang outsmarted him by marrying Ondal as she and the king had so often joked about. She then aided Ondal in gaining political power and trained them in battle prowess until Ondal became a mighty general who now protects her family and the vast lands they have won together in battle.
