Reyn stands as a former Sentinel guard of the Icewarden's lair. Unfortunately, while training a new generation of Sentinels, Reyn was grievously injured, infusing a tiny bit of the Shade into his blood. He was honourably discharged and sent to wander the lands in search of a new place to guard. He found a series of lairs dug into a steep fjord, and chose to reside there with the old leaders. Ever since their disappearance, he has been grandfathered in as a senior member of the council and the guard of a dungeon-like prison.

 His back touches the ice walls. His age is catching up to him. Maneuvers that used to be second nature to him now cause soreness and pain the next day. Reyn only sighs as plumes of his breath rise up into the air, and then disperse as if nothing has happened. His only company in the dreary dungeon is a dim lamp filled with bioluminescent plankton. When frozen, their metabolisms sharply drop, requiring only a minimal amount of sustenance to stay alive and replicate.

Everything he needs is in a chamber; a bed is shoved into a secure corner, food is served regularly by maidservants and disobedient trainees, and a desk sits by the heavy steel door that blocks prisoners. There was a time where the door wasn't there, instead replaced by a sheer silk curtain to peek into the dark hallways. A prisoner escaped and caused a commotion, leading to the addition of the door. A desk was added not too long after, the old leaders claiming it could help block the doorway if things get out of hand. They trusted him, though, and he proved his reliability time and time again.

A thud hits the door. "I guess my shift starts now." He grunts. He's already reaching for his armour. Thick fur and enchanted steel plates protect his body from a majority of the prisoners' attacks; his skill wielding ice magic protects him from more powerful opponents. Reyn grabs his trusted battle-axe, gifted to him directly by his god.

He takes one last look at his room before steeling his face up. His hand reaches for the latch, and he steps into the darkness of the prison labyrinth.

y'all what if he died locking his apprentice into their room as a powerful shade being escapes the prison? the apprentice screams as he remains stoic up to his gruesome demise. a sacrifice as his legacy... jk jk... unless?
