Makoto is spoiled rotten by his mother Mako. Even though he's well into adulthood, she still cares for him like one would a hatchling, much to the detriment of his work and his colleagues' patience. And since she holds one of the most prestigious research positions at the Sanctum, complaining about Mako's preferential treatment or Makoto's utter uselessness is a surefire way to, well, be fired!
