(Ep-o-neen) (AKA Ep)

Former home: A lightless ravine in the Windswept Plateau.
Position: Refugee: Eponine was no less than rescued by a member of the Kith, and was taken in only because she teetered on the precipice of life and death.
Relationships
Parents: Ganymede & Majess): Eponine speaks little of her parents, even when asked. They raised her in darkness, a life she wants nothing to do with anymore.
Siblings:
(None): As far as anyone knows, Eponine is an only child.
Mate: (Metias): A Sunbeam Silk Dancer whose mesmerizing movements captured her eye, and whose warm smiles and quiet passion captured her heart. She vowed fiercely—long before Metias knew it—to make him her mate. And to her surprise, as much as Metias's, they fell deeply and inseparably for each other, and would eventually have a single nest together.
Offspring:
(All): Long before she escaped the lightless ravine of her birthplace, Eponine wanted hatchlings, and wanted them born and raised in the Sunbeam Ruins. Perhaps in defiance of the children like her born to pure darkness, she desperately wanted some new life somewhere in Sornieth to have a polar opposite to that terrible upbringing. With an overflow of love, she found a mate and made this wish a reality. Her children are deeply loved and validated, and live in a beautiful city with the sun on their wings. Eponine could not be happier for herself or for them. It was something she needed to do for her soul, and now that it is done, she can care for her hatchlings and ensure they have the lives they want for themselves.
(Selene): The daughter who remains closest to Eponine of all her siblings.
Friends:
(All): She's only recently joined the Kith, and doesn't know many of the faces yet. Solx, Chisanau, and Assana are the ones she's allowed herself to get close to, so far.
Familiar:
(Ichor Nymph): This creature is oft-seen haunting Eponine moreso than offering companionship, an unwelcome representative of the valley of shadow. It's mischievous, and knows that it's bothering her.
Story
To Find Light is My El Dorado...
Deep in a ravine in the Reedcleft Ascent, Eponine was born in darkness. Her clan was made up of generations of dragons who'd fallen into the trench and scraped out a life when they were unable to escape. With high, smooth walls and narrow cliffs, both climbing and flying out was impossible.
Eponine was reminded these things throughout her childhood as she gazed up at the sliver of sun at the top of the ravine and sought it with an insatiable hunger. Year by year, she tried to scrabble her way out and failed, and was advised not to try again. But she would not listen. As an adult, she received offers of mates in that near-underground realm, and she bitterly refused them all, wanting her children to feel the sun on their skin.
Her escape happened one day when she wasn't even expecting it. She attempted just another climb, scrambling upward with chipped claws and propelling herself from rock to rock with broad wings, held flat enough to fit within the craggy space. And suddenly, she realized she had gone further than before, then she could feel the sun.
Her pale, darkness-slick coat doubly rejected sunlight, burning alongside her eyes as she struggled upward. When her vision watered too bad to see, she continued blind, wondering if the upper world was too harsh a place to survive in. But she made it far enough, scrabbling loudly for every inch, that a hunting dragon heard her.
Solx, Spiral storyteller of the Kith, snatched her hand and pulled her the rest of the way into the light, helping her exhausted and sun-seared body stumble back to the rest of his clan. They had no doctor among them, but Assana (a member of Light) saw the thick darkness clinging to this Coatl's sunburned skin and called it "hexacombs" of darkness, or "gloom." It was an curse of dragons who lived their lives without any Light at all.
With enough time, Eponine made a slow recovery, and the hexacombs retreated to a mere cracklng of shadow. She told the Kith of her life and her wish to have her nest in the Sunbeam Ruins, and to her surprise, this strange new clan leader agreed that his entire clan would travel to Light with her. His own goal—this "el dorado"—eluded him, but might be found in Light.
With new companions, Eponine crossed from Wind to Light, and in time, found love, happiness, and four hatchlings. She's still sensitive to sun, but watches her mate dance beneath her Sunshield hood.

Valued Possessions: Eponine left her home with zero possessions. The first piece of apparel she ever owned was given to her by the Kith while she recovered: a dusty cover to shield her sensitive skin from the upper world's sunlight. When she settled into life in Light flight, she replaced it with a beautiful, silken Sunshield Cloak, and wears it always.
Habits: Often stands in the shade or closes her eyes if she's not watching anything in specific. Her eyes are still light-sensitive and she gives them plenty of rest.
Breed/Color Changes: Previously a Basic/Eye Spots/Thylacine Pearlcatcher. All must be table-flipped.
