Palus has been living in the swamp for as long as anyone could remember. Some even speculate that he was created by Numina to keep watch and protect the murky lands of the oasis, though he's always said that he's just an ordinary dragon. Regardless, he lives up to the title given to him by the residents from the selflessness and care he gives to those who live or travel through the swamp. Some even refer to him as "Grandfather Murk" due to his caretaking nature.

The guardian typically spends his time resting within the swampy waters, rising out from it if he's needed to resolve conflicts, welcome newcomers, or respond to those who wish to speak to him or ask him for advice. He's a rather lazy dragon, and will sometimes only peek his head halfway out from the waters to observe his surroundings before deciding if he should interfere or not. That isn't to say that he isn't dedicated - he just does it in the most relaxed way possible, placing the blame on his old bones if he can't chase after a chaotic Olivine during one of her bark-craving sessions. As of late, Palus has taken up raising the young aether and educating her the draconic language and alphabet. Although Olivine has always struggled in this regard, Palus' laid-back personality comes with extreme amounts of patience, and is willing to go over the same thing over and over with her if she needs to. Keeps him from coming up with new lessons, anyway! Though, he really does wonder what he's going to do with all the vases she keeps making him as a sign of gratitude... |

| Sometimes Palus misses when the swamps' sole inhabitant was him, as he himself has no memory of his past and can only remember his time in the bog. With only him, everything was quieter, less hectic, and required less movement. Though, when he thinks about it, it might not be so bad. He has Olivine to mentor and teach all he knows, Zuphlas to make sweet-smelling flowers (so long as Paruah doesn't eat them), and Kaitaka as entertainment. This community, as it grows and takes form, seems to have become the old dragon's charge. |
