X/XX/XXXX: If you’re reading this, it is time to attack. Who -or what- isn’t important. Was it ever? Time to dust off those pitchforks, pack a nice picnic, and get ready to march. Be sure to invite the entire family. As you know, this community mandated event only happens bi-weekely, and it would be such a shame to miss out. Keep up with your scorecards; remember full cards can be exchanged in exactly three days time. And, oh look. Anything bigger than a snow jumper (but smaller than a sand snipper as per ordinance 3.1-7) will count as two punches. So get out there and rack up those punches! -- Change is coming. In fact, it is already here. No matter how well you board up the windows and barricade the door, there’s no stopping it. Time marches on, beating closer to the end. The end of you. The end of me. The end of everything that makes us who we are and divides us from one another. The end of endings themselves. In the end we are all one. One scream pittering out into the void. Fading away. Stretched out too thin. Change is already here. Knocking. Rapping. Tapping on the walls with bloodied knuckles. Oozing through the cracks and dripping down that faulty pipe that you knew you should have taken care of weeks ago. -- Management has issued a correction to a previous statement. It is, in fact, not time to attack. Time, in fact, does not exist. It is forbidden. Make sure to add that to the list of things that do not exist. I feel just above milk but below existential dread would be a good place. Also we’re being invaded. Seeing how that original post was several hours ago, depending on when you started reading, of course, and also the rampant fires filling the downtown area, the fore-warning has been lifted. There is no need for alarm. Simply do your best to carry on your day and try to stay out of our new overlord’s way. Invaded armies are not a valid school or work excuse, so leave early if you need to cross the 4-11 overpass. -- Every new beginning must also have an end. As quickly as we were witness to a new era, we were also present for its inevitable death. Rejoice in the ever present cycle of creation and destruction and all the screaming horrors that lay between. As the smoke clears and the last rays of the bleeding sun bathe us in its frigid light, remember this: We are still here. Alive. No matter what all we have lost. We will rebuild. That, too, is inevitable. |
