After the Plague Games (and the following tragic defeat), Rue did indeed die. However... he didn't stay dead for long. An imp sent down by Amorgawratp possessed the corpse that had washed up on a virulent shore, having to meld rocks to the damaged scales along with runes plastered across the sanguine flank to stop the possibility of death by blood loss, and the rest of the body from rotting into nothingness.

Using a conveniently placed jester mask (probably from another contestant) to cover Rue's dead-fish eyes, the imp set off on its task... to torture Kingpin. Did it really think it'd be allowed a holiday on Sornieth, away from the demon world's struggles? Hah!
