This dragon has a generation number of 1.

Priestess of the Desert Temple

She was known as Zuya except at state functions. Her full name, being mostly ceremonial, had been chosen by her grandmother; the Summer Realm matriarch.
Zuya's parents were indeed monarchy however, and they ruled the Kingdom of the Summer Sun. Here it was bright, and hot. Zuya had lived in the elegant, white, marble palace in the capital all her life.

Her duties were minimal and mostly involved standing still and looking pretty for the other nobles, this was an activity she had no problem accomplishing in the slightest, she thought slyly to herself.
Of course it couldn't last, what a pleasant dream that had been! Zuya squinted in anger to herself as she reminisced.

Two years ago, she had been relaxing in her usual fashion; with cool drinks and fruit at her whim, a breeze playing across her shimmering scales from an enchanted bamboo pot in the corner of her private rooms. She was idly leafing through an illustrated novel from the lands of Spring, all in all, a most pleasant way to spend an afternoon she thought, as Zuya stretched out happily.

The light shifted and she glanced toward the window, how odd. It wasn't anywhere near dusk. Perhaps a sandstorm was rolling in, but surely she would have been informed at least an hour ahead of time so the shutters could be closed to the sands. She dragged herself from her lounging and went to look from the windows, it wasn't a sandstorm but, it was... hazy? Is that the word? There was never this much moisture in the desert! A strange purplish hue was playing across the mists and the sky was darkened with the heaviness, she shivered involuntarily and backed away uncertainly, her demeanour now changed from idle princess to on alert. Was that a commotion coming from outside?

The heaviness around her grew and Zuya found herself looking around, there was a sensation she had never felt before, a song that only she could hear, words playing in front of her eyes that never stopped moving long enough for her to read them, a chime that resonated in her very core.
She felt light-headed as she tried to breathe through the mists, she felt like she could see scrolls of paper in front of her that faded away as she tried to reach them, they wrapped around her almost palpably though and shortened her breath even more. The world was growing darker...

Some time later she had awoken in her room, the court magician standing over her and a maid awaiting service. She looked up blurrily, a questioning look in her eyes. The magician raised his eyebrows as she blinked away the dizziness, 'Please inform His Majesty that we have a new caretaker for the Arifsa Sanctum.' And the maid nodded and hurried away.

Zuya's eyes widened as she heard his words, she stuttered out a response, 'W-what! Arifsa? That god-forsaken sandpit you sent my sister to three years ago?! Absolutely not. I do not possess the ability to be priestess, you all know this. My sister was the one born with the Sight.'
She imperiously tossed back her head, ready to defy anything that was thrown at her.

To her chagrin, the magician looked back with, was that pity? He coughed lightly and gestured at her form. She blinked in confusion, looking down. She blinked again, and so did all her other eyes. All her other eyes. How had she not noticed?! They were all over her! Two lines of new eyes reaching all the way down her sides and even her tail. At least 15 or 16 new pairs of eyes that couldn't see, but could see at the same time. She felt a rush of senses as knowledge came to her through each of her eyes, what was being said throughout the palace preparing for a new priestess, the people in the town whispering about the occurrance and what has caused it, the number of animals in the surrounding region and their movements, the air currents and the weather they would cause. Also, she could feel the other places. Those places where life was different, where things dwelled, where the living passed on, where the darkness resided and tried to seep into the cracks she could now see.

She gasped in shock and struggled to get a hold on her overwhelming new senses. Gritting her teeth she opened her normal eyes again to see the door opening and her father walking in and the magician talking to him '...highly unusual to gain the Sight as an adult, yes your Majesty, there's no avoiding it...'
The King had looked over at her appraisingly, then he just left! 'Father! You can't send me out there!' Zuya choked out after him. But send her he did, she had the Sight given to her through some unfathomable reason, and so a week later she found herself on an hours long carriage ride being driven out to the desert temple known as Arifsa. Her sister was nowhere to be found and the place was covered in sand, as though it hadn't been lived in for months. Her attendants simply unloaded the goods and left. Left her in this dusty abandoned place!

She had spent a solid hour crying and yelling to no one about it, except maybe a few desert lizards, then been forced to get up and rush to fasten the shutters and hang heavy weaving over the windows to keep any more sand out as a storm was blowing in.

It must have taken a month to fully brush all the dust out of her new living accommodation. You could call it a house, she supposed. Every day Zuya felt the call to the temple proper, where she would complete the ritual that no one had taught her, that one of her eyes already knew as if she had done it a thousand times. Then, satisfied, the call would cease and she would be free to spend the rest of her day going about the business of living by herself, working hard to farm enough food for herself, trading her services as a priestess and seer for those goods she lacked.

And in her free time? Zuya planned how to escape her predicament, researching ways to offload this 'Sight' onto someone else; where had her sister gone? She heard her parents were expanding their family again, having lost another daughter to the sands. She was being replaced! Fruitlessly, she was also attempting to resist the call to the temple, but it was as inexorable as trying to stop the desert itself.
She gritted her teeth, finished a warding charm with a flourish of her quill, and sat back to dwell on her injustice a little more.
