From the Faes of Starshine Burrow, Dedicated to Hurricane
Once upon a time, in the age of blood
A dragon's nest, lost to the flood Repairs and patches, surely in vain As danger poured in along with the rain Claws abound as the rain did pound Made to kill without even a sound A maw full of teeth, perfect to gloat After showing them off, to tear out a throat A massacre they made, leaving nothing behind With no spot unchecked, nowhere to hide The prey, so fearful, ran dug and hid While hunters and killers did as they did The Bogsneak in waiting, to strike and leap The Spiral, finding bones to keep The Wildclaw, grinning, would lie in wait While the Nocturne would lure them to a terrible fate The Mirror, ever fast, would chase them to death While Imperials and Guardians, so huge, would stomp out their breath Gaolers, who had once sought to protect Would leave no abodes of its prey unwrecked But when silence did reign The prey would deign To come out of hiding and see what remain Blue fins, pink eyes, sharp claws, cruel and wild The killers did flee, to escape from the fray Lest the prey's savior would take them away But in the end it was all in vain For no one can escape a Hurricane. |

But then, one fateful night, the burrow was attacked. Dragons towering above them snapped their jaws in glee as they pursued and devoured every Fae they could find. These dragons were cannibals, and Shade-Touched ones at that. They spared no dragon, intending to leave the burrow in ruins with no survivors to be found. It was then that Hurricane used her power. She flew into the fray, making the enemy dragons see hallucinations left and right. She caused them to writhe in pain, some passing out from it. But worst of all, she reawakened sleeping illnesses inside of them. Pestilences and plagues, and the unluckiest dragons found themselves dying a rather painful death from infections that were fatal. As they witnessed their comrades falling, the cannibals fled. Hurricane was regarded as a hero by who remained of her decimated home. But she felt the need for revenge, the need to do vile acts bubbling inside of her. Her once beautiful home was in shambles, a sad shadow of what it had once been. She needed to cause more pain to the dragons that had destroyed everything she had once known and loved. So Hurricane followed them home, and waited for them all to go to bed. It was easy to attack them then, for the cannibals slept during the day. So Hurricane snuck into their home and began her carnage. She roused illnesses in hatchlings and eggs, making sure that the children of those who had most wronged her village wouldn't survive another day. It worked well, all too well. The dragons awoke to find the weakest of them dead, their loved ones gone. The leader of the cannibals, Phoenix, shoved Hurricane into the dungeons. She promised that she would kill the blue Fae if it was the last thing she did, and she would make it the most painful thing to ever be experienced. Hurricane knew there was no escape, but yet she was happy. She had avenged her home. And yet, an opportunity arose. Two Nocturnes were passing through the home, evidently children of the cannibals. The Nocturnes did not seem to like their parents, however, and announced that they were only there to visit. They would soon be returning to a different clan, a clan that the cannibals didn't like at all. Hurricane saw her chance, and struck. She begged the Nocturnes to take her with them, to free her from an unjust fate, to save her from death. The Nocturnes, unknowing of what Hurricane had done, agreed. And so the three fled, making their way to the rival clan. One of the Nocturnes had to stay behind, for she was being forced to "bond" with her stepfather, but Hurricane didn't care. She and the remaining Nocturne were able to escape, and now reside in the Clan of Scattered Bones. But Hurricane is always aware, for she will never know if, or rather when, Phoenix will see fit to uphold her promise. |
L E T T E R
Why would the Shade accept a mistake like you? "I hate you, Hurricane. I hate you so much But I will never get rid of you Even though I hate you. Because death would bring you peace. Peace. I can't allow that. You will NEVER have peace. You will live unwanted, unloved. FOREVER." This dragon is This dragon is unwanted. This dragon is unloved. This dragon will never have peace. This dragon is hated. This dragon is an abomination. THIS DRAGON WILL NEVER LEAVE. I am going to find you, Hurricane. I'm not going to stop looking. And when I find you, I will kill you. I will make you suffer. And that is a PROMISE. ---Phoenix |
