A former prince from a kingdom of light, he was cursed as an egg by an enemy of the family. Born with eyes of shadow and an extra set of curled, dark horns, the young prince was ridiculed and ostracized growing up, believing to be an impurity in the bloodline. Though he continued to be brought up in their ways of the light, once he became of age, his family was pressured to be rid of him. How this happened, he wasn't sure: all he knows for certain is that his memories of the kingdom are gone and a feeling of great shame constantly echoed in the back of his mind. Forced to wander the land, the young prince had even forgotten his own name, only answering to what others in the kingdom had called him - a "Beast."

Though his memories were gone, it didn't mean Beast forgot his formal upbringing. He remains polite and formal at almost all times, lest he treat someone the way he was once treated. He manages to retain a poised calmness in even the most stressful of situations, though there's definitely a subtle melancholy in his mannerisms. He was well taught growing up and developed a love for learning, happily discovering that exploring the world was an excellent way to feed his curiosity. He has a special fondness for puzzles - especially ones that use wordplay.

It was by chance that Beast discovered Fable Grove. He had heard vague rumors about it; one told of it being home to secret collection of the land's great heroes, while other rumors spoke of it being a clearing of magical flowers that showed dragons visions of grand tales. Eager to find out for himself, Beast had journeyed through the Viridian Labyrinth. He happened across a fight between a young Fae and a large, fearsome Ridgeback (who he would later learn was named Anios.) Fearing for the smaller dragon, Beast jumped in to intervene.

That was when he learned Fable Grove was actually a performance troupe. Though a bit embarrassed of his rash action, the Fae - clan leader Zia - lauded him for his bravery and welcomed him to stay. Beast was reluctant at first; even with his memories of his kingdom gone, he was still plagued by a deep shame, believing that his presence was a nuisance at best and a curse at worst. That's what he liked about traveling - he never had to stick around anyone long enough for them to judge him. Should he remain, he feared this clan would learn to see him as a shameful creature, but Zia's insistence and goodness eventually convinced him to stay.

Beast now helps with tutoring the other dragons, teaching them the bare basics of... well, a little bit of everything. Otherwise, he assists in composing the troupe's performance stories, often framing their settings and peppering their tales with his experiences in the world. He's also built up a growing book collection, which he's happy to lend out to other dragons.

Faith
An ancient construct that was discovered deep in the jungle, Beast spent much time studying the mysterious golem. He wasn't able to figure much out about him; all he knew for sure that there was an old rune scrawling on him that read "Faith," which was eventually decided to be his nam. Though Beast continued to study the construct in hopes of uncovering more about his past, he eventually dropped this pursuit and learned to simply enjoy his company. On particularly nice days, Beast can be found relaxing within Faith's vicinity, sometimes reading stories or poetry out loud to the construct. Beast has also found himself confiding in the golem about his insecurities, though he laughs at himself for being too cowardly to share these feelings with anyone else. All in all, Beast has grown surprisingly attached to Faith - even though he's never said a word.

Jun
Jun has eagerly followed Beast around in childish awe ever since he learned that the Tundra was once a prince. As a young noble himself, Jun's upbringing was rushed thanks to politics and assassins lurking about, and now that he's in hiding, he's been eager to learn as much as he can from a "real" noble. In return, Beast is happy to teach Jun all that he knows and amused with the younger dragon's enthusiasm. He realizes that the Pearlcatcher is still a child however and often encourages him to take breaks and play every so often. Though Beast does care for him, deep down he's reluctant to grow fully invested in their friendship, fearing the risk of Jun one day shunning him.
