Biography
When the small cracks began to appear across the eggs, it was his that broke open first. Dark fireflies trailed out as if to herald a new spirit, and his mother, Greteel slowly coaxed the hatchling out of his papery confines. The green tinge in his wings was bright, almost luminous against the cave walls that protected their nest, his eyes just as shimmering as the water that lapped around the mounted crevice they had settled into. "Children like him are special," Beltaine told his paramour, as the witch watched the child wriggle out from the broken pieces, his step wobbly but getting stronger as he tottered over to her side, chirping. It was such a beautiful sound to Greteel, and she lowered her head to nuzzle at him affectionately. "All my children are," Greteel moved up to rest her cool gaze on him. Despite the sayings from Zelievna, the Witch of the Mists decided that this particular consort, and as it happens, father of these children, was not one to be trusted so easily. Hanzjel would have thought the same, but he was off doing business along with Ragnar. "They are nothing else otherwise." "Of course, of course..." the other skydancer inclined his head as Vidar had moved from his mother to him. He wuffed at the fireflies surrounding his young son, and nuzzled at him just as his mother have done earlier. "But a Silvertongue should never be underestimated," he said softly. "He could be the divide between love and war." |
Vidar did not stay with his parents for long, certainly not after his training was completed. There was always a restlessness to him, one that often made him impatient despite his otherwise charming nature. So it was little surprise the day that he set out on his own without saying goodbye. He traveled for a long time, using both his way with words and his skill with a blade to survive. He proved to have a way of de-escalating conflicts, and so was often called upon to help Witches who were starting to slip to the wrong side. Yet there is a darker aspect to Vidar as well, an ambition. If it means getting what he wants, he can and will lie to your face and lose not even the slightest bit of sleep. After all, he is the Serpent. And those who forget that fact do so at their own peril. |
