Vayle

Vayle is... intense, to put it mildly. Nobody is exactly sure what she's guarding in the secure access part of the lair, but the warriors in the clan know enough to have her back a hundred percent. She never leaves her guard post. Food is brought to her consistently, and like any good Gaoler, she lives and breathes her work. Fearless and unflappable, Vayle is generally well-liked among the clan. She's got a dry sense of humor and nerves of steel that make even the warriors jealous. She earned her entry into an Order young, and her fire breath is a magnificent sight to behold.

It wasn't often that Gaolers just showed up on Clan AXQU's doorstep, but that was exactly what Vayle did. She told the doorguard that she was needed here, and that Clan leadership should've expected her arrival. They weren't expecting her at all, but once they found out which Order she belonged to, she was whisked inside with barely a whisper to the confused clan. Her credentials were legitimate. She had smelled a need, and had traveled a long, long way to get here.

It wasn't often that an Overseer ended up outside the Fortress of Ends. It wasn't often that someone born outside the Fortress of Ends ever became an overseer. It usually only happened when something big and horrible was deemed too dangerous to move.

Vayle is well-liked. Vayle is well-supported. She has quite a few friends in the Clan, including a certain calm and self-assured Banescale whose company she has come to enjoy. She's been called a breed-traitor by many other Gaolers, and a few hushed whispers have questioned her Overseer credentials, but Vayle is as stubborn as the most assertive of her breed. Running a jail makes for unpopular work, and no Gaoler worth their salt would give in to peer pressure or go against their own good sense. She likes Atticus enough to trust him to help him around her jail, and maybe let him in emotionally too... if she ever gets the courage to float that to him.

Nobody goes past Vayle. Nobody interferes with her work. Nobody in their right mind wants to.
