Biography

OVERSEER

trail

Nassau is Aura's younger sister, and while she doesn't possess her sibling's impressive horns, she has her own abilities. Born with incredible magical prowess, Nassau has the ability to control living creatures. Her powers mostly range from having small mice and lizards as messengers, though she can also bend her own unit's will if she chooses to. Most of her power, however, goes to containing the Unambiguous.

Before Nassau was born, the unit had had issues controlling their most dangerous prisoner. He was nearly as old as the gods, and needed his own magically enforced cell to contain the incredibly radioactive Shade energy. Over time, however, the barrier had begun to wear, making it possible for the Unambiguous to find small cracks in his prison to whisper lies to those who listened. Perhaps it was some of the Shade that touched Nassau's egg that gave her powers that so coincidentally matched the Unambiguous'.

Whatever the cause was, Nassau discovered that she was the only gaoler who could listen and interact the Unambiguous without submitting to insanity or death, as well as bend his will. This proved to spend a lot of her energy however, so for the most part Nassau was simply tasked with visiting the Unambiguous to distract him from trying to escape until a further solution could be found.

As time wore on, Nassau began to trust the prisoner, despite her instincts. As it would happen, she began to see him as a fatherly figure, a mentor who could teach her how to refine her ability to control and take what she wanted. It just so happened that one day, she was too careless, and left a single spell unspoken as she left his prison. That was all the Unambiguous needed.

To this day, Nassau hasn't told anyone the truth as to how one of Sornieth's top dangerous prisoners escaped. To let a prisoner escape is a crime punishable by death, and the gaolers are not forgiving, even to their kin. To redeem herself, Nassau has decided to step down from Overseer to the Seeker order, in the hopes she can find the one who broke her trust,
