Biography

MERARI
When Merari hatched, the Arcanist whispered, This one is mine. And the force of the whisper was such that Merari could hear the words, even though they had no sound, and his parents and newly hatched siblings all shuddered as the felt a force pass near them.

Merari was named in honor of his oldest surviving sister. As Mara was the Gatekeeper Naomi's first fae grandchild, Merari was the first mirror. Surely he would serve the Mother proudly, born as he was into the breed she herself had crafted.

And yet...the Keir Efinar, the Plaguemother's gift to the clan, would not take in Merari's body. It did not grow in him as he aged, and no matter how many times he undertook the "cleansing" ritual, it did not stay.

This one is mine, Merari heard, every time he attempted to receive the Plaguemother's gift. And the final time, he simply heard, Mine.

The word was spoken with such power that the earth shuddered and Merari fell senseless to the ground, and knew nothing more for a time. When he came to again, he found himself no longer in the desolate wastes of the wyrmwound, surrounded instead by the crystalline trees of the Starwood Strand. And that is where his new clan found him...
