Avivoryss Laboratory

The Avivoryss Laboratory, often shorted to A.L., is a scientific lab set up within Level IV of the abyss to record and monitor the deeper levels of the abyss.

Initially, it started out as a plan to defend the Avivoryss Kingdom - along with the friendly locals of the upper abyss - from whatever lurks further down, as both parties had reported hearing ghastly roars from below. However, some of the members - primarily the clan accountant Beam - saw potential in creating a team to not only defend the clan and locals, but to examine and document what exactly lurks down in the abyss. Thus, Operation A.L. was born.
Initially, it was funded and supported by Beam, buying and delivering necessities and supplies to the fledgling base. However, as the team recruited more members, it became self-sustaining, able to find food and water for themselves, fix broken machinery, and even create cozy living quarters. Unfortunately, now the team almost never travels back to the surface, and their only communication with the Avivoryss Kingdom is the monthly reports to the higher ranked members.
Naturally with the sudden silence of the team comes rumors abound. They have spread amongst the main clanmates, and while almost all are false, a few have suspiciously plentiful details attached to them...

The Avivoryss Laboratory is a scientific lab set up in Layer IV of the abyss. The lab was created by the Kingdom to record and monitor the abyss after reports of activity deeper down had begun popping up. Once supported by the Kingdom, it is now self-sustained, with dragons of various skills residing there. Their now limited communication with the surface has caused rumors of more devious activities to spread within the kingdom above.

Generally indifferent, distant, calculating, and stubborn, once he sets his mind to something he fully intends to see it all the way through, meticulously planning each step and back-up plans if, by some chance, his initial plans fail. He'll use whatever resources are available to him for such plans and he's near-impossible to convince to stop when he's set on a specific thing, regardless of how realistically feasible his plan seems to be. He tends to expect his colleagues to maintain a pace consistent with what he plans, and starts to get pushy and annoyed when he feels someone is falling behind schedule.
Luckily for his colleagues, more often than not he simply leaves them to do whatever research they wish, so long as he's approved it and it falls in line with their goal on understanding the abyss better.
Most of the time, he's not doing much actual experimenting, observations, or other similar tasks. Rather, he's usually sifting through the research the other A.L. scientists record, compiling and filing them for later reference and searching for places of further potential research said scientists could pursue, or approving or rejecting any experiments the other scientists wish to conduct, or generally ensuring the now-self-sufficient lab is running smoothly. When he's not working on any aforementioned tasks, he's locked away in his office or personal quarters, usually working on some personal projects which he refused to even acknowledge, much less share details of. His colleagues know he's up to something, however, considering he periodically has semi-bloodied bandages wrapped around his limbs and some scarring along his arms.
His habits and personality have left a rather unpleasant impression of him with most of his colleagues in the A.L., as he seems to either be overbearing and bossy or nearly entirely absent, with no in-between; the only reason most scientists can stand working there is the other dragon who heads the lab, Macrae, is far more pleasant to work with. Furthermore, his methods have almost always achieved results, which was really all Beam cared about from A.L.
Despite his perhaps cold demeanor, Macrae seems rather fond of him, and tends to trail after him the few times neither of them are occupied with anything significant. Leoster usually doesn't mind her company, and he's generally easier on her than the other scientists, though part of that may be because she almost always keeps pace with whatever he expects of her. Furthermore, the two have known each other for a while - well before either joined the A.L. project - and Macrae insists that "Leo" does have a warmer side to him.
