Jabbing into your fingers, a needle — a silver spark that lights up a single scarlet flame. You watch it bloom upon your night-black hide, brighter than the surrounding darkness. In a gust of wind it's snuffed out; it falls, vanishing into the shadows at your feet.
When next you press your fingers to the weaving, the redness is gone. But the fire remains inside you, thundering in your heart.
It surges from the green darkness of the ferns: all orange and black, nothing but pure living flame, its eyes ensnaring yours. It takes your wrist into its mouth, and you do not feel the red-hot wave of a searing bite but instead a sting. Quick, light, barely noticeable — but those fangs were loaded with venom.
"Ignite!" The word roars within you, erupting through your blood. And out through your scales, at last, waves of orange and black setting your night-black hide alight.
Your claws are no longer needles, they're swords, and beneath them the world's nothing but a weaving. The fire that's inside you, upon you, bids you rend that fabric, cast those tatters into death's dark void. Cloth and wood, faces and names: all turn to lifeless tatters before your flames.
Until the dawn breaks and the sun's own fire outshines yours, and you fall, shaking, a night-black ember once more. No longer wreathed in the tiger's flame—
—but only until night comes again.
