Biography
"Vrakei, what is this...thing?"
"It is our egg, dear Kelra."
"...no. It can't be."
"Pardon? By the High Warden, what do you mean?"
"You softheart, look at it! It is...tainted. Breathe its scent, it is Shaded!"
"I- No, this is impossible. There must be some explanation, Kelra, calm yourself!"
"I will not! Whatever is in that egg, that...that thing is not my child, it is not my blood. It is a beast of Shade, and it must not live!"
"KELRA, NO!"
.
..
...
Large, heavy paws thud against the inside of the eggshell. The hatchling moves, and after several minutes of labor, he claws his way out of his prison. Blinking in the oppressive sunlight, he lets out a cry, looking around as he tried to gain control of his body, wet fur weighing him down. His eyes adjust slowly as he whines and looks around, searching for the source of the voices he heard from within his eggshell.
There is no one.

...
"...oh my."
"Yes, oh my is right. I don't believe this is quite one of your kind, is he, Ophelia?"
The fluffy dragon ambled over to him, snuffling his mane.
"...not a Tundra, Penn," she said, her voice strained and touched with exhaustion.
"Well, what is he then?" The strange looking feathered one glanced between Ophelia and the hatchling.
"...he is something more ancient."
The fluffy dragon paused, and sniffed him again.
"...oh dear. Shade affliction...mild case, but all the same."
Penn, the feathered one, stopped skimming through a book he had dug from his bag and looked at Ophelia. "Do you have any suggestions?"
Ophelia did not immediately answer, her attention still on the hatchling. "Dear boy...where are your parents?"
The hatchling tilted his head. Ophelia sniffed the air and growled. Any scent of other dragons was old.
"We will not leave him alone," she snapped, cold anger overriding her usual exhausted tone.
Penn came over to the pair and placed a gentle talon on Ophelia's front leg. "No, dear friend. No we won't."
