Biography
When Leo reached adulthood in the frozen expanse of the Southern Icefields, he dutifully served the Icewarden as one of the Gaolers’ Seekers, traveling from one corner of Sornieth to the other to track down monstrous Shade creatures and bring them back to the Gaolers’ prison cells in the icefields for containment. Strong-willed and brave, Leo was eager to face any challenge and determined to prove himself as among the best and the brightest Seekers, traveling far and wide to serve his deity.
On one of his expeditions across the continent, he encountered a Shade creature unlike any he had ever seen before, and the encounter left him irrevocably changed. Now trapped in the body of a hatchling, Leo’s confidence failed him for the first time, and he found himself full of shame--he couldn’t return to the Icewarden like this, small and weak, unfit to maintain his position as a Seeker, and he decided to stay away from the Southern Icefields until he grew back to his original strength.
But his original strength never returned. Seasons passed, and still, Leo remained a hatchling. As winter turned to spring and spring turned to summer, Leo’s hope that he might return to his place among the Gaolers dwindled, and he began searching for a new home, unwilling to face the shame of returning to the Southern Icefields in his current state. He found a new home among the Gaolers of the Clan Gale Rain in Wind Flight territory, and quickly settled in with his new makeshift family, glad to be among his own kind, even if they didn’t all share his past and strict adherence to Gaoler traditions. He is particularly close to Jay, David, and Rae, who also spent several years serving the Icewarden before joining Clan Gale Rain in Wind Flight territory.
