WIP wordie words will go here. A great many of them most likely. She and her brother were taken before they were hatched, and in their stead, two rotten eggs were placed. This was to fool the eagerly awaiting parents into thinking their only clutch didn't survive. A cruelty yes, and one that would not be forgiven any time soon if the truth were to come out. The eggs were used in an experiment (again I do not know who or the overall reason why another would do this) to see if they could turn them into Gaolers (strike that, we can have it that someone was trying to create a new gene scroll). The first experiment worked on Altair, but not on Natalya. Being as she was seen as a failure she was handed over to a random elder in Port Wildwind, while Altair was handed over to the new Gaolers in the area. Shortly after that the perpetrator of the crime left for the Starfall Isles to further their experiment and then sell the new gene scroll. Natalya, even though the elder Pearlcatcher that raised her was a sour old fart that clearly was more burdened by the presence of a cub than she was joyed by it, grew into a health and happy young dragoness. She worked in the fish cannery for a time, but when she earned enough she moved herself to New Haven to work on the farms there. She loves animals and has been toying with the idea of going to school to become a vet (a profession that is thus far missing from my lair). She has only known the elder (uhhh! what is her name... think brain think!... nope still nothing. UGH!) and assumes she is her only family. It's for this reason she has never looked for anyone else. Lycima has happened upon the girl though and is drawn to her. Though, she doesn't understand why. She is very concerned about her well being and enjoys being with her. This connection is not something that is the love of a partner between a partner, however, it's a different sort of connection that she just can't figure out. For now, Lycima, fearful that Serin and Zim might see the draw as inappropriate keeps the girl from their knowledge (which doesn't look good either, but for now... meh, it's what happens). |
