She was born in a rich and conservative clan. Her mother and father were high ranks, important warriors in the Clan. She was excepted to follow the same path.

But every day since she was little, she dreamed about exploring the world. Her parents didn't approve her passion, punishing her by not letting her see the outside. One day, she escaped and never came back. Even with no experience in the world, she managed to go exploring all by herself.

When she was in The Shifting Expanse, she met Satoru and Nami, who helped her when she was being attacked by some thiefs. Satoru and Nami were recollecting some sprockets for the upcoming festival, just like her. They kept together since then.

She arrived the Domain with her friends, since Satoru was the legitimate son of the actual leader. He had to renunce to all pretensions to his inheritance to keep travelling. She didn't mind coming, since she was always attracted by Wind's freedom.

When she left home, she wasn't planning on staying on another place for too long. Little did she know that the Gods had other plans for her. After some events, the three of them saved the Clan from a Plague's gang threat. She met the love of her life: Taiyou.

They decided to stay in the Clan, and Satoru claimed his position as the new leader of the Domain. But the Cloud Council would only agree with one condition: he had to marry the other saviour of the Clan: Chiai, and concieve childrens with her. She gave up exploring and her love for a place in the Domain, a family, and her friends. But there isn't a day where she regrets it.

Even though Chiai is not very strong, she has good agility and intelligence. Her lean and long body makes her evasives very reliable. She also has great ability with knifes.

Chiai is curious. As arcanist blood runs through her veins, she also loves learning. However, she wasn't a common arcanist: she wanted to learn by exploring. She left her home at age one, and learned many things by exploring, from fightinng to potions and even some magic. However, she is not specialized in any of them.

She laughs a lot and likes to make fun of dragons, specially Satoru. He takes revenge doing her pranks, that usually don't work out very well, since she is now used to them.

She is the female leader of the Domain and the maximum authority along with Satoru. She is respected and sometimes, even feared, since she is very smart and has a long story of turning different situations into her favor. Chiai is also very loyal to their beloved ones: she would do anything to protect them.

She has two daughters: Rise and Hina. She conceived them with her past love Taiyou, just before marring Satoru. However, that remains as a secret. And she plans on keeping that way.
