Between Beak’s ears, behind her eyes, run the swirling waters of time. That which has come, that which you’ll find- truths hide within her, no words here may lie.
She often leaves off there- it doesn’t always occur to her that she has yet to explain the meaning behind those words- that she is a learned soothsayer, a disciple of the Tidelord, gifted with sight and learned in the ways of many different magicks. Beak has an unfortunately Kassandra-esque curse of sorts- she often gives prophecies that sound foreboding and vague, fortunes that hang above their bearers like a dark cloud for reasons she never understands, until a few days later, when she realises she forgot to translate the fine print in her claw readings and some much needed context was left out. She has, on several occasions, considered contacting her customers to clear the murky depths she left them with, but frankly, she finds the whole ordeal rather embarrassing, and she’s often busy picking, preserving and displaying flowers in her scrapbook anyway, so really, what on Sornieth is the point of bothering them and her for something as silly as not mentioning that you meant they would see a bunch of crows.

What is love? Is it a whisper? A bang? Close. It’s the creak of gears and the smell of chlorine at a kitschy fake Tsunami Flats old mill style ride in Little Sornieth, not far from the Pillar of the World. At least, it is to Beak and Empire. Right there, in the gift shop at the exit, looking at a magical recording of all the glances they stole when they each thought the stranger they sat next to would never see them do it- that’s the origin of all romance. To this day, they ride it once a year, and Empire’s given Beak the same ‘Spiral Keepsake Future Teller’ 3 times now. She’d never tell her, and besides, she seems to love the variety of saltwater tonic recipes Beak keeps gifting.
