The Neglected Abyss


______ Nideth would have a very hard life. This had been decided before she had even hatched from her egg. Her and her sister, Madia, while still just wee little eggs, mostly stayed in the lair's Nest since their parents Ribos and Echo were often away thanks to their duties to the clan. The two sisters had been conceived before the gaolers had awakened, so eggs and hatchlings were always at a higher risk of Corruption or being touched by Shades. Nideth had been the unlucky sister. Something darker than a Shade had slipped past the watchful eyes of the caretakers and claimed the unhatched dragon as its own vessel. Nothing had changed from the outside. Nideth's shell seemed normal....seemed fine. But once the day came where they finally hatched....everyone was horrified of what slithered out from Nideth's egg....Eyes lined her sides from head to tail, all staring wildly up at the new world. Her skin, if you even wanted to call it that, pulsated grotesquely. Even though she was only a few minutes old, she was already lashing out to attack everyone who came close, even her curious older sister, Madia.

Adia, the clan's leader, took no time at all to initiate the order to exile the little hatchling to The Neglected Abyss. She was to fend for herself. She wasn't alone for very long, though....The King of the Abyss, or at least that's what he calls himself, took her under his wing and raised her. At least until the gaolers had finally awakened....
