Biography
XingTian The General |
Continuing through your journey in the Flyers lair, you find yourself among the heavily reinforced armory wing soon enough. The halls here are vast, accommodating even the largest of imperials by your estimates and flooded with bright fluorescent light. Pacing down the hall towards you is an imperial, slender is a powerful sort of way with his wings held close to his side. He wears eerie green cloth and little armor, two glinting blades resting on his hip. He stops before you and stares, sizing you up like prey before speaking. "I'm XingTian, do you have business here? Or simply exploring?" |
Origins
XingTian has been a skilled an honored general for almost as long as he lived. As a hatchling, he was part of one of the front line clans in the constant war between Nature and Plague, and as a result was witness to battle and destruction often. Though the darkest parts of war did taint his mind with blood, XingTian saw where he could do good. He began to work his way up the ranks, fighting tooth and nail for his survival and a stance in the army where he could do something. His efforts paid off, and he eventually rose to be one of the five lead generals in his sector of the army, underling only to the prince that ruled that particular area. Here, he was happy--he felt useful, alive, and incredibly in power. Through little effort of his own, XingTian made friends with the prince who ruled over him--an elegant pearlcatcher by the name of Inamu. The two had interacted for the war effort, which had translated into more familial contact over time. They became close, closer than either had intended; nights previously spent alone in their lairs planning for the next days conquest were now spent together, enjoying a meal with maps scattered about in half-hearted completion, or in a tangle of sleeping limbs. XingTian never truly felt safe in his world--as was the life of a warring dragon--but next to Inamu, he believed he was close. Unfortunately, nothing lasts forever, and there was inevitably conflict between the two friends. On the battlefield, XingTian was cool, collected, but incredibly driven; he refused to give up a battle even when defeat was near. Inamu loathed this about him, as for as many victories it brought them, it brought defeats as well. Arguments were frequent on this topic, and things eventually came to a head when Inamu sent XingTian away in a fit of rage, cursing his name. Though not banished from his home, XingTian knew it was the end for the two of them, despite how pained it made his heart. He returned to his lair, packed his bags and left a note for Inamu, then left his life behind. He traveled aimlessly for a while before finding the Galestorm Flyers as a general where he took up residence for lack of anything better to do. |
Personality
XingTian is most well known for his tenacity; faced with a problem, he attacks it with a stubborn ferocity to find the solution. He is aware this is not always a good trait, as he refuses to quit even when it would be beneficial to do so. It is his downfall as a general, and has led to many unnecessary injuries. Though he has tried valiantly to shift his thought process and actions as a general, he has only had moderate success, much to the annoyance of his underlings. He remains a general mostly due to his incredible talent in battle--he can out-think and outfight enemies with ease, and for those he cannot he turns to Starshot and other allied clans for help with. With the help of Seabound's more grounded and reasonable thought process, the consequences of his actions are mitigated leaving XingTian with moderate support of his underlings. Outside of his work, XingTian tends to be a closed off dragon who has few friends, though not due to his callous nature that comes from his time in war. In reality, XingTian hides himself from others due to his wounded heart from Inamu; when he left his birthplace, he left his life and his best friend, who perhaps would become something more. However, despite his best efforts to avoid future heartbreak, a few dragons have wormed their way into his heart as friends, though not as close as Inamu. Starshot, having similar struggles to understanding the emotional mindset of others, has become a close friend, and XingTian will often find solace in the quiet of their lair. Their mate, Seabound, has also become a close adviser and friend, though the two warriors' friendship is more of a tough love and mutual respect than that of kind words. Regardless of all of XingTian's struggles in socializing and building himself a life after he lost it all, there has never been any doubt that he values his clanmates over everything. He has said before he would die for any of them in a heartbeat, and though he hopes to never have to make good on his promise, there is not a dragon in the clan that doubts him.
