______Brenda was hatched in a warm, safe nest in the Plaguelands, to two parents who loved her dearly and provided for her every need. She had numerous siblings, but they ensured she never felt lost in the shuffle, and that she had playmates when they were busy and working.

______And she resented every moment of it.

______Their life seemed so idyllic, but Brenda knew what a reputation her father had. He'd scare away any perceived threats - or friends, for that matter - with only a glare. Her family was suffocating. She'd find any excuse to get away and act out, if only to spite her parents. One night she'd simply decided she'd had enough - no fight, no drama, just wingbeats against the arid night air shedding the past.
Inital lore by themewtwolady

______Her first night alone was difficult. She flew until her wings could carry her no longer -- she'd never been a great flier anyway. She made it a bit further by foot, but in the end, she settled down and managed to scavenge the resources to make a fire. It was cold, she was hungry and thirsty, and she was sure the woods were full of eyes.
______She had never felt more alive.
______There and then, as she watched for beasts in the dark, she made a list in her mind of things she wished to change in her life going forward. First, she wanted a new name. Second, a new appearance, new genes, new clothes. Third, she vowed to never mention her parent's reputations. Nothing of her life before would influence her from now on.
______She shed her previous name like a snake sheds its skin, but didn't know what to call herself otherwise. It didn't really matter, she figured. Until she found a clan to stay with, she was simply herself, and that was fine with her.
______She wanted adventure and danger, as well as friends to share it with. What must it be like, not living in the shadow of her father's reputation? What must it be like, to be able to go anywhere she liked? Meet new dragons and hear of their stories? Befriend who she pleased without the worry of what they might think of her family, or vice versa? She didn't know. But she was excited to find out.
______She came through a clan that watched over wayward souls such as hers. There was no doubt that she didn't intend to stay long, but the stories of those that surrounded her were fascinating. It felt like everyone had so many more life experiences than she did. Dragons younger than her carried stories and tales from their grand adventures and how they had ended up here. Her claws itched to have things so grand to share. It was here that she heard the first rumor of The Tempest Order.
______They came by every now and then, another traveler had told her. Other dragons had left with them before. Amethyst, Nifty, Sunbloom, Tyberion, Rsyn, Djangi, Enigma, Imelda, Rame... the list went on and on. A huge pack of Mirrors, they told her. Mercenaries. They didn't care where you came from, only cared what you could do. They had been by recently, but they hadn't been impressed with anyone this time around and left without any new members.
______What better way, she thought, to prove herself worthy of this clan than to make the trek to their desert homeland and make her case there? It seemed like a solid enough plan to her. For days and nights, she traveled through rain and shine towards the Shifting Expanse. She fought tooth and nail to reach its borders, grappling with beasts and weather to make it to her new life.
______But everything she'd gone through was nothing compared to the desert. The sands whipped themselves into storm only a few hours after she entered its borders. The sands seemed to swallow her whole in moments. She focused only on moving forward, digging her claws into the sand, but it gave beneath her. The wind threw her like a ragdoll, whipping her against rocks and threatening to bury her in sand.
______A voice broke through the chaos and pain. Weight pressed to her shoulder and helped her to her feet. She could hardly make out anything of her companion, but with the other dragon's help they both made it through. They came out the other side storm-beaten and battered, but alive.
______The other Mirror's name was Sheer. The alabaster female sought the Tempest Order, just as she did. She'd heard the tale of the gold to be made in their ranks, and she wanted in. Together, they traveled the final miles to find the Order's current camp.
______Her adventure proved worth it. Though it was small compared to what others in the Order had done, they were impressed by her persistence. She and Sheer were welcomed into their ranks and put to work. Having given no name to the clan, they gave her one of their own: Limn. She didn't understand quite why she was given such a painterly name, and neither did they. Names came from their magically inclined. Only the powers that be would know for certain.
______Sheer became a close friend to her, along with many other Mirrors. Some seemed rough but were quite warm if you knew them well. Some seemed warm but were quite rough if you knew them better. The Order was full of dragons from all walks of life, some trustworthy and some not. And for once, she had the freedom to decide which ones she deemed which. She steadily gained stories and tales, scars and experiences from her many outings.
______Some nights she still thinks of her parents and family, wondering what they are doing now, but she wouldn't change her decision for the world. This life was dangerous, unpredictable, and everything she'd ever wanted: Freedom.
