W I N T E R

walking alone down a path
in the woods
on a cold
snowy
day.

a lone trail of footprints
slowly weaving
through the snow;
crunch.

frosty trees, standing
silently in the stillness of
nature's beauty, carrying
heavy glistening icicles
in their arms
as they stretch to
the cloudy sky above.

tiny flakes, drift
from heaven behind me
spiraling down, in
tiny pieces of ice;
gliding through the air,
sparkling flashes of light
like glowing fireflies
dancing in the night.

fragile crystal patterns, in
frosty white designs
stretch across ice
and snow to me;

my fingers
touch
the weightless flakes
floating lightly
with the breeze

the cold air
sharp and fresh
numbs the face
and clears the mind

every breath
a silver misty cloud

pale white snow in front
peaceful quiet
all around
