A gentle soul determined to do what good he could in the world, Akeldama devoted himself to mastering the art of making weapons and, more importantly, armor. While he never truly condones violence, he knows that there are some battles in this world against the shade or other forces that seek to destroy the lives of dragons that cannot be won through peaceful means.

Akeldama had previously settled down with a mate in another lair in the woods. He was very happy there, and thought that his days of wandering were over. However, it was not to be, and Akeldama soon found that his peaceful retreat had mostly been a fantasy. Drawn into his work, he had neglected his mate, and soon the tensions at home boiled over.

So Akeldama did the only thing he knew how to do, he left. He intended to return with a gift, and a promise to make things right, but as he traveled and the letters from home ceased, the fire that burned within him guttered. When Silesia and Echidna asked him to stay and ply his trade in the lair, in exchange for his own home and shared space in the forge, Akeldama no longer had any reason to say no.

The romantic in him hoped perhaps Silesia would turn kind eyes on him, but much like himself, Silesia was too caught up with her work and its peripheral responsibilities to settle down with a mate. Never the less, Akeldama enjoyed working along side her and making new friends in the lair.

Eventually, Silesia had a chance to live her sailing dreams and left the smithy behind. The larger amount of work that Akeldama suddenly became responsible for almost overwhelmed him. Luckily, he was able to find an apprentice, Rupert, who has become a find blacksmith in his own right and who now takes care of the bulk of the less complicated metalwork that needs to be done to keep the lair functioning.

He is, of course, something of a celebrity among the coliseum dragons for his work, but he's become friends with Mineral as well who often needs delicate but sturdy custom work done. He still writes home on occasion as well, hoping for a letter in return.
